Sydney McLaughlin is considered one of the greatest hurdlers of all time — and she is winning off the track too.
The track star and her now-husband, Andre Levrone Jr., had a modern meet-cute in 2020 and tied the knot just two years later.
Although the pair rarely post about their relationship, Levrone is his wife’s biggest fan and is often seen cheering her on from the stands.

Levrone was born in Maryland and grew up in a family of athletes. After a breakout high school career, the wide receiver had his pick of offers from Division 1 schools like Auburn, Mississippi State, University of Southern California, Clemson and Hawaii.
However, he ended up going to the University of Virginia, where he studied Mass Communications and Media Studies until his graduation in 2017.
He played in the NFL for two years
Although Levrone went undrafted out of college, he eventually signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens in 2018. After a year with the organization, the 6-foot-2 athlete joined the Carolina Panthers.
Levrone announced his retirement from the league after two seasons in September 2020.
“Farewell Football ❤️,” he wrote on Instagram. “Mannnn, this is the 1st time in 20 years where the football season has rolled around & I’m not playing. Deciding to no longer pursue a professional football career was a difficult decision, but a necessary one nonetheless.”
“The early mornings, the late nights, the relationships formed, & the relationships lost. Many smiles, laughs, & tears. A fractured vertebrae & countless other ailments… it was ALL worth it,” he added.
Since then, Levrone has worked as a commercial real estate advisor and as a project manager, per his linkedin.
He and McLaughlin went public in 2020
Although it’s unclear exactly when McLaughlin and Levrone started dating, the pair went Instagram-official in December 2020.
The hurdler told the Knot in 2022 that they met through “a mutual friend who [she] went to high school with and he went to college with.”
However, she said they “didn’t interact until he slid into [her] DMs” and asked if she wanted to join his Bible study since they are both devoted Christians.
“It was the first time I was in a relationship with a man who I felt could lead me in my faith to a place where I wanted to be,” McLaughlin gushed. “We both knew early on that we liked each other and what our intentions were.”
He proposed in 2021
The lovebirds said “I do” during a stunning vineyard wedding less than a year after getting engaged.
“We’ve been waiting for this day for a very long time, so just excited that it’s finally here and we can say we’re married,” McLaughlin told People at the time.
The track star walked down the aisle in a Pallas Couture long-sleeve gown with beaded flower appliques.
In May 2024, McLaughlin celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary by sharing photos from a backyard photoshoot.
“Two years of marriage down, forever to go,” she wrote. “I love, loving you.”
He is her biggest fan
Levrone has attended most of McLaughlin’s track meets ever since they started dating.
The former athlete regularly celebrates his wife’s accomplishments on social media.
After McLaughlin broke the 400m world record — for the first time — in 2021, Levrone praised her as the “best ever.”
He also traveled with her to the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she competed for her third gold medal.
After Levrone’s face was shown on the jumbotron, McLaughlin’s face visibly lit up.
She later told NBC that having him in the crowd “means everything” to her.
“[He is] my best friend. My biggest supporter and my personal pastor,” she gushed. “I love him more than life itself.”
