Jennifer Lopez says Ayo Edebiri ‘apologized with tears in her eyes’ for podcast digs: She was ‘mortified’

Jennifer Lopez has addressed Ayo Edebiri’s negative comments about her career following their joint “Saturday Night Live” appearance.

Speaking to PvNew, she revealed a “mortified” but “very sweet” Edebiri profusely apologized to her before they went live on the show in early February.

“She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things,” Lopez, 54, recalled in an interview published Tuesday.

“She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform.”

“She was just like, ‘I’m so f–king sorry, it was so awful of me.'”

The two-time Grammy nominee added that she wasn’t phased by Edebiri’s rude comments because she has “heard similar things” throughout her “entire career.”

In 2020, the “Bear” star, now 28, appeared on the “Scam Goddess” podcast and claimed Lopez’s fame was “one long scam.”

“She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her,” Edebiri claimed. “I think she thinks that she’s still good even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.”

She went on to say she studied Lopez’s career and found evidence that proved she didn’t sing all of her tracks.

“A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J. Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio.’ like, ‘J. Lo was busy,'” she recalled.

“It’s like, ‘Doing what?’ Not singing, obviously!”

Edebiri’s comments resurfaced after she was announced as the host of the Feb. 3 episode of “SNL” with Lopez as the musical guest.

She addressed her comments during the show with a skit called “Why’d You Say It?,” during which the participants were forced to explain questionable remarks of theirs.

“It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid,” she noted when she was put in the hot seat.

“But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”

Edebiri and Lopez appeared to be on good terms even before the show went live, as during a promo clip, they stood next to each other and exchanged niceties.

“I’m really excited. I love your show,” the “Let’s Get Loud” hitmaker told Edebiri.

“I love your everything,” the Emmy winner replied.
