Belated congratulations are in order for Mindy Kaling.
The “Mindy Project” star announced on her 45th birthday Monday that she quietly gave birth to her third child, a daughter named Anne, in late February.
“She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined,” she captioned an Instagram post featuring photos of the baby with big siblings Katherine, 6, and Spencer, 3.

“When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life,” continued Kaling, who also included a throwback snap of her baby bump.
“I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!”
This is not the first time that the “Office” star has surprised fans with baby news.
In 2020, Kaling announced on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that she had given birth to Spencer — without ever letting the public know she had been pregnant.
“I’m telling it for the first time now … I gave birth to a baby boy on Sept. 3,” she said on the talk show.
The “Inside Out” star has never disclosed the father of her children, even leaving the box for the dad’s name on Katherine’s birth certificate blank.
Fans have long speculated that Kaling’s former boyfriend and “The Office” co-star B.J. Novak is the father of her kids.
The duo even poked fun at the rumor while presenting an award at the 2022 Emmys, with the “Never Have I Ever” co-creator joking that they had an “insanely complicated relationship.”
Kaling has been in the news of late for dropping 40 pounds. She said in 2023 that she was the “healthiest” she has been in years.
