The Met Gala 2024 is shaping up to be a fashion fairy tale.
On Thursday, Vogue announced that Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth will serve as official co-chairs of the monumental fashion event on May 6.
This year’s gala will celebrate vintage fashion and fantasies from long ago with the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and today’s announcement also revealed the official dress code: “The Garden of Time.”
While Lopez and Zendaya are Met Gala pros — often stealing the show with some of the night’s most memorable looks — Bad Bunny is a relative newcomer, having attended the so-called “Oscars of fashion” only twice thus far.

This will also mark Hemsworth’s first-ever Met Gala.
Fans were particularly excited to hear that Zendaya, 27, has been chosen for the job — despite having not attended the major event since 2019 — with one commenting on Vogue’s Instagram post, “ZENDAYA GonNA EAT.”
Another added “ZENDAYA FINALLY,” while a third wrote, “@zendaya should be a co-chair ever year.”
Some weren’t wild for the flowery theme, with one referencing “The Devil Wears Prada,” joking, “Florals for spring…groundbreaking!”
Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew will serve as honorary co-chairs, as the Spanish luxury label is underwriting the event.
The accompanying exhibition will feature 250 garments from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, some of which have rarely been seen before. It will also incorporate “elements such as AI, GCI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky,” per Vogue.
“It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,” said Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge. “One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.”
