When it comes to pulling off bold red carpet looks, she definitely ate.
On Tuesday night, Cate Blanchett arrived at a special fan screening for her upcoming film, “Borderlands,” wearing an elaborate top by Hodakova made of silver spoons.
According to a press release from the brand, designers hand-styled a total of 102 antique utensils on the halter top, sourced locally in the Swedish countryside in keeping with Blanchett’s sustainability ethos.
Letting the custom design steal the spotlight, the actress, 55, kept the rest of her outfit somewhat simple, pairing the piece with tailored black Hodakova pants, pointed black pumps, and minimal jewels from Louis Vuitton.

The “Lord of the Rings” actress kept her signature blond hair styled in a cropped, wavy bob and for makeup, opted for rosy cheeks with a pink lip.
Fans were obsessed with the unique look, commenting on stylist Elizabeth Stewart’s Instagram post to sing their praises.
“Does the care instruction label say ‘Dishwasher only’? Seriously looks amazing. Thanks for sharing,” a fan joked while another declared, “She wore spoons because she ATE.”
“only Cate Blanchett could pull off wearing spoons,” one person said.
Still, she did end up suffering a small wardrobe malfunction — though it was not the eye-catching top that gave the star an issue, but rather appeared to be her pants.
The faux pas prompted her co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis, to come to her rescue, with the “Halloween” actress keeping close to Blanchett as they posed for the cameras, helping to hold the outfit in place.
“Nothing is going on! You know what is going on? I got her back,” Curtis joked, according ET.
Aside from keeping her pal’s outfit in place, the 65-year-old “Freaky Friday” star also made quite the fashion statement, wearing bright red pantsuit with coordinating, goggle-like glasses that featured red lenses.
The actresses’ outfits were no doubt on-theme for “Borderlands,” as the film, which is based on a video game, is a sci-fi action adventure following a group of misfits that end up battling alien monsters.
Although Blanchett went bold for the screening, it’s possible this won’t be the last time we see her spoon-embellished top.
The “Carol” star often repeats her red carpet looks years after she originally wore them, updating old gowns for major events, including the 2023 SAG Awards and the 2023 BAFTA Awards.
Maybe she’ll even deconstruct the whole thing and host a tea party.
