Kim Kardashian’s outfit to Janet Jackson’s concert was more than 30 years in the making.
The reality star wore the same costume that the singer sported in her 1993 “If” music video while attending the show in Thousand Palms, Calif., with her sister Khloé Kardashian, mom Kris Jenner and their friends on Tuesday.
Kim, 43, showed off the custom suede crop top with bone detailing and lace-up flared pants via her Instagram Stories ahead of Jackson’s “Together Again” tour stop.

You’ll never guess what Kim Kardashian carries in her tiny $30K Hermès Kelly bag
“Can you guys tell where I’m going tonight?” she asked. “I bet you will never guess.”
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum confirmed the all-black ensemble’s origin when she reposted a 2021 social media exchange with the Grammy winner.
“For @janetjackson’s birthday because I’m such a fan I can’t believe I won this outfit,” Kim wrote at the time after spending $25,000.
Jackson, now 58, replied, “Thank you so much @kimkardashian. I hope ‘IF’ gives you as much pleasure as it did me.”
The Skims creator was no stranger to auction success at the time, as she reportedly bought Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ Cartier watch for $379,500 in 2017.
She also vied for a George Condo painting in 2023, with her and Tom Brady each pledging $2 million — and Kim ending up with a commissioned piece from the artist instead.
The Hulu personality has also worn iconic celebrities’ outfits before, infamously walking the 2022 Met Gala red carpet in Marilyn Monroe’s dress.
Kim followed a strict diet to lose 16 pounds and fit into the gown.
“I didn’t starve myself,” she clarified to Vogue, saying she wore “a sauna suit twice a day” and “cut out all sugar and all carbs.”
Lili Reinhart and more social media users bashed Kim for “openly admitting to starving [her]self” at the time.
The makeup mogul faced similar backlash when whittling her waist down in a John Galliano for Maison Margiela corset dress for this year’s ball.
After wearing more corsets, from a “broken doll” look to a multi-buckled leather one, Kim ditched her signature style on Monday to showcase her curves in a black bikini and body chains.
