Keisha Whitaker’s cause of death has been /confirm/ied.
The ex-wife of Forest Whitaker died of alcoholic liver failure, her Los Angeles County certificate of death reveals.
Per the documents obtained by TMZ, the actress suffered from alcoholism and liver disease for years before her death last month.
The certificate also reveals that acute renal failure — a symptom of anorexia — played a role in the mother of three’s death.
Keisha passed away at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif. She was 51.
A rep for Forest did not immediately respond to Pvnew’s request for comment.
Per a source of the Daily Mail, the model had been in and out of the hospital for months before her death due to intestinal problems caused by anorexia.
“Keisha battled anorexia for years,” the insider alleged. “And in 2014 she entered rehab in Chicago. Forest stayed by her side during those difficult times, but [soon after] he filed for divorce.”
“In the last year Keisha seemed to become more and more frail,” they continued.
“She didn’t venture out as much as she used to, and spent a lot of time in the hospital.”
The insider added that Forest has been “taking her death really hard.”
News of Keisha’s death broke on Dec. 7 when her daughter True posted a tribute to her Instagram Story.
“Goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond,” the 25-year-old wrote atop a throwback photo of her mother.
“The most beautiful woman in the world. Thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”
Forest, 62, has not yet publicly addressed the death of his ex-wife.
Keisha and the “Last King of Scotland” star were married for 22 years before Forest filed for divorce in 2018.
The former couple met on the set of “Blown Away,” welcoming daughter True and Sonnet during their relationship.
Keisha also shares a third child from a previous relationship.
