Jessica Simpson shut down an Instagram follower who implored her to lay down the bottle, as she has been sober for nearly seven years.
The “Newlyweds” alum shared a black-and-white photo of her son Ace, 11, on Instagram Monday, and a commenter with the wildly ironic handle of @nunyabusiness1492 wrote, “STOP DRINKING!” — apropos of nothing.
Simpson, 44, wasted no time setting the critic straight, responding, “I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family.”

The “Irresistible” singer thanked the troll for the “concern” and added, “but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way.”
Upon seeing Simpson’s response, @nunyabusiness1492 immediately backtracked and issued a mea culpa.
“I’m so happy to hear that!! Sorry for my misunderstanding,” read the account’s response. “Sending love to you as well.”
Last year, the fashion designer marked six years of sobriety with an “unrecognizable” photo of herself snapped during her rock bottom.
“I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore,” she captioned the image. “I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.”
Simpson explained at the time that she needed to stop drinking alcohol because it “exhausted” her to have her “mind and heart circling in the same direction.”
“I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor,” she continued. “I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.”
Simpson, who lost 100 pounds after getting sober, admitted her issues stemmed from lack of self-love and self-respect — not alcohol.
The “I Think I’m in Love With You” performer revealed in her 2020 memoir, “Open Book,” that she became dependent on alcohol and pills during her relationship with John Mayer in 2007 because of how insecure she felt around him.
“When I tried to leap back in and say something to add to the dialogue he was having with himself, he would challenge what I said and I’d get quiet,” she wrote.
“I was so afraid of disappointing him that I couldn’t even text him without having someone check my grammar and spelling.”
Simpson went on to marry Eric Johnson in 2014, and they have three children.
