These trolls aren’t displaying model behavior.
Christie Brinkley, 69, clapped back at haters on Instagram yesterday after her comments section was flooded with negative remarks about her appearance — and droves of fans came to the supermodel’s defense.
Her original post was captioned “Downtown Girl,” showing off a pout-faced selfie and shots of the New York City skyline, but she later updated the post to call out some of the mean-spirited comments on the photo.
“Update: Whoa Nelly ! The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force in the comment thread!” the supermodel added to her caption, referring to the negative remarks like, “Those chest wrinkles yuck.”
“U forgot to airbrush the chest. ur true age!” another commenter wrote, while a third added, “I guess we’re going to ignore the chest hair and concentrate on the fillers.”
Brinkley wrote that some people “scan celebrities pages, hoping to find some cellulite , wrinkles , or anything that they can point to to to [sic] critique,” continuing that the behavior is likely a “form of compensation for some thing they are lacking.”
Luckily, the Bellissima Wine founder received plenty of “kind and valuable” comments in response to the cruel messages, like one fan who wrote, “You look beautiful! Thank you for not using a filter. I wish more celebrities would do this so that we can normalize aging again.”
Brinkley also addressed the “chest hair” comments, adding, “PS I don’t have hair on my chest obviously( I thought!)” adding that iPhones have “a tendency to create weird things” in terms of shadows “But so what if I did?”
This isn’t the first time the modeling icon has spoken out on aging, with Brinkley sharing with People last month that she intends to keep her blond hair despite feeling “pressure” to embrace gray at 69.
“If you don’t go gray, some people really make a big deal about it,” she said, adding, “I think the important thing is to do what works best for you.”
