Chet Hanks worked up a sweat while putting his vocal cords to work.
The outspoken — and apparently chatty — son of Academy Award winner Tom Hanks told his Instagram followers Wednesday afternoon that he “just went on a hike,” during which he “talked out loud to [himself] for 2.5 hours straight.”
According to Chet, it was the “realest conversation” he’s ever had.
The “White Boy Summer” rapper explained he “hadn’t kicked it” with himself “in a while,” insisting that “self talk is everything.”
In the next Instagram Story slide, Chet reminded his fans that “the only thing harder than healing is not healing.”
Speaking directly to those who may be struggling, the 32-year-old added, “I know it’s been a long road for you. And the road is still long ahead. But all that matters is you’re still on it. Don’t give up.”
The “Empire” and “Shameless” alum celebrated one year of sobriety in September 2022 after years of substance abuse.
“All In. The decision was final. Never going back to that s–t. Ever. This is just the beginning,” he captioned a since-deleted screenshot of his 12-steps progress at the time.
In 2014, the “self-confessed black sheep” of the Hanks clan announced he went to rehab for cocaine addiction.
At the time, the then-24-year-old revealed that he decided to go public with his situation because a tabloid was about to run an article about his stay in treatment.
Despite how the news came out, the actor felt “blessed with the programs of AA and NA,” which he credited with allowing him “to rise above this disease.”
“I’m learning to accept my faults and be ok with being human,” he shared, going on to thank his famous family — including mom Rita Wilson and half-brother Colin Hanks — for their support.
Though he’s been embroiled in his fair share of controversies over the years — including domestic violence accusations, which he has denied, and instances of cultural appropriation — Chet seems to be on a better path.
The fitness influencer currently runs a “self-mastery program” called HanxFit Club.
