It’s a match made in Democratic heaven.
Huma Abedin — the beleaguered longtime aide to Hillary Clinton and ex-wife of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner — posted a photo of herself Wednesday with her new Valentine: Alex Soros, the son of billionaire Democratic donor Alex Soros.
Political and society insiders told Pvnew they were caught by surprise by the Instagram post that showed Abedin, 47, and Alex — who, at 38, is nine years her junior — cuddling up in a Parisian restaurant, complete with red roses on the table.
People who did know about the romance said they had been asked to keep things quiet.

But one former senior Clinton aide told Pvnew: “It’s a classic Clinton world couple. Alex is the perfect match for Huma. He’s insanely wealthy and powerful — everything that Huma cares about.”
A major Democratic donor added, “Huma always wanted to be whatever the American version of royalty is.”
At the very least, this could be the beginning of a very savvy Dem dynasty.
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton and her husband, investor Marc Mezvinksy, are so close with Alex that he called the couple “family” in one post online. Abedin has long been considered a “second daughter” to Hillary.
Alex and Bill Clinton both made a pilgrimage to see Pope Francis last year, where they shared a private audience with His Holiness at the Casa Santa Marta papal residence in Rome.
Meanwhile, Alex’s father, George — who made his money in hedge funds and is worth $6.7 billion, according to Forbes — was one of the top 10 donors to Hillary’s ill-fated run for president in 2016, plowing more than $9.5 million into her campaign.
His nonprofit Open Society Foundation is said to donate around $1.5 billion a year to liberal causes, and George has financially backed progressive criminal justice reform in district attorney elections, including in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chicago.
And Alex, who told the Wall Street Journal he is even “more political” than his father, is in place to take over his father’s mantle.
Soros pere had boasted that he would never cede control of his companies while he was still alive. But last June, he said Alex, an NYU grad and one of five children, had earned the right to take over the family’s holdings.
And sources say that’s appealing to Abedin.
“She’s very close to the Clintons … but I don’t think this has anything to do with Clinton world. This has a lot to do with Huma world and where she sees herself and what she wants for her future,” the major Dem donor said.
“Huma would have been very happy to be in the pantheon of Amal Clooney, where she is a person on her own beforehand — but if she marries Alex, she goes from being a well-respected, beautiful woman to royalty. Huma has always seen herself in that vein. She wouldn’t be the first man or woman that I met that married someone to create an image or a future.”
And it could helpfully erase the memory of her first marriage to Weiner, a serial sexter who was caught lying several times about having online relationships with other women — as well as a 15-year-old, which landed him in prison after he pleaded guilty to transferring obscene material to a minor.
“I’m thrilled for her,” an Abedin friend told Pvnew. “She works so hard and she deserves happiness. I just hope she’s happy — she’s been through so much.”
Weiner and Abedin share a 12-year-old son, Jordan, and were last known to be living in the same East Village apartment building so they could co-parent together. It is unclear if their divorce is finalized.
Weiner did not respond to a request for comment.
A well-placed source who knows both Abedin and Alex told Pvnew, “Hopefully this will be a healthier relationship for Huma.
“Alex is obviously very wealthy and comes from a good family, she needs someone stable rather than anyone famous. He obviously doesn’t have that fame factor; Anthony clearly wanted to be the big cheese and she’s always gone for those guys.”
One society insider said that Abedin — who is active in the city’s social scene — usually attends events around town alone, or only with female friends. She has quietly dated since her split from Weiner, most notably having a high-profile fling with actor Bradley Cooper.
On the same night Abedin was in Paris with Alex Soros celebrating Valentine’s Day, Cooper threw a gala concert for his Oscar-nominated movie “Maestro” at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, where attendees included Abedin’s BFF Anna Wintour.
Abedin was invited as well — “She and Bradley are still close friends,” a friend of hers said — but she skipped it to travel with Alex.
The two are now said to be in Munich, Germany, at the same time as the Munich Security Conference, an annual gathering on international security policy that attracts world leaders.
“Huma’s certainly not your Park Avenue debutante — she’s more interesting and intelligent. And Alex has a lot of business acumen,” said the source who knows both. “Years ago, he was a little dweeby. He didn’t have the gravitas of his dad then, but he has a lot of money and he’s unapologetic about it.”
Society photographer Patrick McMullan told The Post how, several years ago, he helped Alex learn how to look more comfortable in front of cameras at events.
“He didn’t know how to be photographed and didn’t know what to do when someone asks to take a picture,” McMullan said. “I taught him the basics 101. I told him to look and smile and it’s not a long ordeal.”
Another insider told Pvnew that Alex and Abedin started dating via a mutual friend who’s currently dating Peter Soros, Alex’s cousin, whose father was the late philanthropist Paul Soros.
Said to be less bombastic but more detail-oriented than his famous father, Alex told the Journal he is laser-focused on the 2024 presidential election.
Alex recently met with top Democratic leaders, including officials from the Biden administration and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
“He’s a political donor — he’s certainly very active. He literally grew up with his dad hosting and being the biggest Democratic donor in American politics,” said the source who knows them both.
Alex, who grew up in tony Katonah, NY, is said to love hip-hop and the New York Jets.
According to a source who knows him, “Alex started to get more politically active 10 years ago when he was still finishing college. He started hosting his own events, not just for the Clintons, but for congressional candidates.”
Indeed, back in 2019, Alex hosted Barack Obama at his home for a fundraiser for the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.
“At the time he had a big, huge apartment, just off Cooper Square,” said the source who knows him. “He’s clearly trying to take over the family tradition.”
And that’s good enough for Abedin, the Dem donor said: “Huma is very much after her own agenda and has her own future in mind.”
