Aspiring lawyer Kim Kardashian visited a California state prison Monday to learn about inmates’ experiences on the inside.
She made the trip to the Lancaster, Calif., lockup with her sister Khloé Kardashian, rapper Lil Baby, TikTok sensation Dixie D’Amelio, Fanatics mogul Michael Rubin and members of Reform Alliance’s newly announced Future Shapers Advisory Council for Gen Z activists.
Reform Alliance is the criminal justice reform organization started by Rubin with Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Robert Kraft and others.
A statement by the org said Kim and company “met with incarcerated men in the facility to learn about their stories, hear about the challenges that led them into the criminal justice system and identify ways in which the system can better support safety and rehabilitation.”
They also “toured rehabilitative programming at the facility.”
The Skims founder, 42, dressed down in a militaristic-looking black turtleneck sweater and black cargo pants for the occasion.
Kim said in a statement about the prison visit, “It’s always an honor to be able to visit the men and women living behind our prison walls. Hearing the stories of people trapped in the prison system is what drives my commitment to advocate for reform and find ways to leverage my platform to help change lives and laws.”
She added, “Today I was especially thrilled to bring Reform’s Future Shapers Advisory Council inside the prison as well. We are building up the next generation of leaders and influencers who will join us in this fight.”
Also visiting were Future Shapers Advisory Council members Hannah Jackson, Rondo Bonilla, Sophia Kianni, Zander Moricz, Jack Wright, Heidi D’Amelio, Marc D’Amelio and Aidan Kohn-Murphy, plus California Assembly member Matt Haney and Reform Alliance execs Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney. Dixie, 21, is also on the council.
The concept for the new council was created after Kim and Rubin hosted a Reform Alliance dinner this year.
Kim last year said in a Vogue interview that she dreams of starting a successful law firm after she passed California’s “baby bar,” aka the First-Year Law Students’ Examination.
She’d failed it three times previously, which was documented on her reality TV show.
During the Trump administration, Kim went to the White House several times to meet about criminal justice reform. She also successfully lobbied the then-president to pardon Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence without parole for a nonviolent drug offense.
Kim’s late father, Robert Kardashian, famously worked as a defense attorney during O.J. Simpson’s 1995 murder trial.
