Rod Stewart was forced to cancel two performances Friday after contracting COVID-19.
The “Maggie May” singer’s team revealed the news on his Instagram, writing, “We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart’s concert in Stateline, NV and his August 10 concert in Lincoln, CA have been postponed as the singer recovers from a summer strain of COVID-19.”
The post encouraged fans to “hold on to” their existing tickets, as they will be honored for the rescheduled shows.

The California show, which was scheduled to take place at the Thunder Valley Casino, is now rescheduled for Aug. 18, while the Nevada concert is set for Aug. 20.
Stewart, 79, canceled his Aug. 7 show for his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace earlier this week after getting sick with strep throat.
It would have been his residency’s 200th show.
“Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me,” he explained in his post. “I’m absolutely gutted.”
“I’ve been looking forward to his concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.”
He confirmed that he will be back to perform at The Colosseum in 2025.
Stewart’s sicknesses come less than two weeks after he spoke about mortality with the US Sun.
“I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear,” he said. “We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.”
“I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can,” he added.
“I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”
The Grammy winner also admitted he can no longer party like he used to without feeling the consequences.
“Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show,” he conceded.
Stewart’s North American tour has a handful of shows scheduled through September.
He will then take a breather before playing two concerts in Europe in December.
As for 2025, he has shows in New Jersey and Florida before he resumes his Las Vegas residency in March.
