Megan Moroney “never exclusively” dated Morgan Wallen — but they were once romantically involved.
The “Tennessee Orange” singer finally addressed the longstanding dating rumors, which began in 2022, during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast Wednesday.
“It was never a relationship,” Moroney admitted.
The country singer, 26, met Wallen, 31, before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 when she was still a senior in college.

“So we were friends for a long time,” she said. “[But] we were not just friends.”
Although the pair had a “little thing,” the “I’m Not Pretty” singer clarified that they were “never officially dating.”
The Georgia native said it wasn’t “hard” keeping their fling a secret due to the “Wasted On You” singer’s “very private” lifestyle.
“Like I said we weren’t exclusively dating ever and I think both of our schedules… like when we would try to hang out it’d be like, okay, we have this one day of the whole month where we’re both maybe in town.”
Moroney “tried to avoid” addressing the nature of their relationship for years but feels like enough “time has passed.”
Although things fizzled out between the two, the blond beauty said “all is well” between them and they’ve remained “friends.”
The pair first sparked dating rumors in September 2022 after Moroney released her hit single “Tennessee Orange” — which many believe is about the University of Tennessee superfan.
In the song, she sings about meeting a man with “blue eyes” who is from Tennessee.
“He’s got me doing things I’ve never done / In Georgia they’d call it a sin / I’m wearing Tennessee orange for him,” she sings.
In addition to leaving flirty comments under her social media posts, Wallen responded by releasing a song called “Tennessee Fan,” which detailed him meeting a pretty blonde at a Vols football game.
Moroney added more fuel to the fire after posting a photo wearing a Vols T-shirt, which fans speculated belonged to Wallen.
Two months later, the songstress confirmed the speculation during an interview with SiriusXM’s “The Highway.”
“It is his shirt,” she admitted. “But it’s just a shirt.”
It’s unclear when the pair decided they were better off as friends.
Wallen and Moroney have kept most of their relationships out of the public eye and both recently confirmed they are single.
