Savannah Guthrie joked she was left “hot and bothered” by the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
“We are transitioning from the liberty portion, which got us a little hot and bothered in the pouring rain,” the “Today” show co-host said after a three-person romance was featured in the “Liberty” section of the “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” skit that aired, per Us Weekly.
The segment followed two male and one female dancers who met up in a library. Before they ran up a spiral staircase, a book titled “Le Triomphe De L’Amour” — which translates to “The Triumph of Love” in English — was displayed on the screen.

As they wandered up the spiral staircase, the female teased both her male peers by nearly kissing them.
The trio then entered a room and began flirtatiously caressing one another. Before things got too heated, they kicked the camera out of the room and playfully shut the door.
Kelly Clarkson, who is a commentator for NBC during the Paris Games, also felt a certain type of way about the steamy stunt.
“We are uninvited, well, OK. That was just rude,” she joked.
NBC commentator Mike Tirico then explained the significance of the trio.
“So the artistic director, Thomas Jolly, decided to lean into some of the clichés about France,” he noted. “The City of Light, known as a romantic city. So much literature written or set here involves love.”
“So in this segment, love and literature the twain shall meet. Or maybe we should say trois.”
Social media users also had plenty to say about the flirty performance.
“I didn’t have the Olympics opening ceremony celebrating polyamory among their celebration of love, but I’m here for it,” one satisfied viewer tweeted.
“LOL the ménage à trois on live TV! On the Olympics opening ceremony! Okay Paris!
