Elon Musk claimed he was deceived into allowing the medical gender reassignment of his transgender daughter, sensationally saying she was “killed by the woke-mind virus.”
“I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys, Xavier,” the billionaire, 53, told psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson in a Daily Wire interview Monday, using his 20-year-old child Vivian’s deadname after she transitioned in 2022.
“This is before I had any understanding of what was going on. COVID was going on, so there was a lot of confusion, and I was told Xavier might commit suicide if he doesn’t [make the change].”

The Tesla CEO then argued to Peterson that the concept of allowing children to transition is “incredibly evil.”
Peterson claimed there was no clinical evidence backing up the notion that his child needed medical intervention, to which Musk replied, “I agree with you that the people that have been promoting this should go to prison.”
Musk said that he essentially “lost” his child and reiterated that he had been “tricked.”
“They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason. The reason they call it ‘deadnaming’ is because your son is dead. My son Xavier is dead — killed by the woke-mind virus,” he said, again referring to Vivian.
Deadnaming is the act of using a transgender person’s former name against their wishes, intentionally or not. The SpaceX founder continued to deadname his child throughout the interview and at one point even declared his commitment to ending the acceptable culture surrounding gender reassignment procedures.
“I vowed to destroy the woke-mind virus after that,” he said. “And we’re making some progress.”
The tech titan exhibited how serious he was when he announced last week that he would be moving the SpaceX and X headquarters from California to Texas after California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law banning school districts from requiring parents to be notified if a child starts using different pronouns.
“This is the final straw. Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas,” Musk posted on his social media platform.
“I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children,” he added.
In 2022, Vivian petitioned a California court to change her name and gender. She also requested to take her mother’s last name in an attempt to drop any association with her father.
Vivian stated in the the court filing that she “no longer lives with or wishes to be related to [her] biological father in any way, shape or form.”
Musk, who has fathered 12 children, shares Vivian and five other kids with ex-wife Justine Wilson. They were married from 2000 to 2008.
