Colin Jost is giving rare insight into his stepfather role.
The “Saturday Night Live” star spoke to the New York Times Saturday about loving his wife, Scarlett Johansson, because “she’s a great mom” to her daughter, Rose.
Jost, 42 called Johansson’s parenting skills “part of the reason” he fell for her.

“I’ve known Rose, my stepdaughter, since she was 2,” he explained in the interview. “It’s weird. You get to actually preview someone as a mom.”
Johnasson, 39, gave birth to her now-9-year-old daughter in August 2014 with then-boyfriend Romain Dauriac.
The actress married the journalist, 42, three months later and filed for divorce in March 2017.
By May of that same year, Johansson had publicly moved on with Jost — and the comedian proposed in 2019.
In the Times profile, Jost gushed about how “normal” Johansson is despite her star status.
“She goes to the supermarket,” he said. “She’s just very good at wearing a hat and she keeps moving. She is able to stay a little under the radar, but she’s able to do all these everyday things and enjoy them, too.”
The couple got married in October 2020 and welcomed son Cosmo, now 2, the following year.
Johansson joked on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in 2021 that Rose was not initially interested in connecting with her newborn sibling.
“She has a lot going on in her life,” the “Black Widow” star said at the time. “She’s got a very active social calendar, so she’s not as interested in the baby as, I don’t know, let’s say, like, any other thing really?”
Johansson keeps both of her children’s faces off social media, but she and Jost have given insight into their personality in interviews.
In April, Jost called Cosmo “smart” and “fun” on the “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi” podcast.
As for Rose, Johansson labeled her “very, very … painfully girly” during a 2018 “Ellen DeGeneres Show” appearance.
