Matty Healy’s mom has given soon to be daughter-in-law Gabriette Bechtel her stamp of approval.
Denise Welch confirmed her son’s rumored engagement to the model on “Loose Women” Wednesday, gushing that she “couldn’t be more thrilled” for them.
After sharing details about the “black diamond” ring that The 1975 frontman, 35, “had made” for his 26-year-old partner, Welch continued gushing about Bechtel.

“She’s from Los Angeles. She’s absolutely gorgeous,” she said. “We couldn’t be happier. She is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law.”
The singer and Bechtel made their relationship milestone Instagram-official on Tuesday evening.
The bride-to-be flashed her bauble on her Story while at a Charli XCX show promoting the singer’s new “Brat” album. “Marrying The 1975 is very brat @trumanblack,” Gabbriette wrote over the pic.
Her fiancé re-posted the picture to his own account.
The duo began dating in September 2023, three months after news broke of Healy and Taylor Swift ending their short-lived fling.
The former couple were together from May to June 2023, with “Entertainment Tonight” citing incompatibility and scheduling issues as the reasons for their split.
Swift, 34, publicly moved on in September as well, with her and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce still going strong.
She seemingly referenced the athlete — as well as ex Joe Alwyn — on her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” but surprised fans with how many songs appeared to be about Healy.
Swifties have spied clues linking “But Daddy I Love Him,” “The Smallest Man in the World” and “Down Bad” to the controversial performer.
Healy, who claimed at the time to have not “really listened to that much” of the record, was reportedly “blindsided” by “TTPD” and now finds it “hilarious.”
A source told Us Weekly that he and the Grammy winner weren’t “ever serious,” claiming, “For her to be saying things about baby carriages … and living together — he says it had never even come up.”
Healy made headlines Tuesday for “liking” an Instagram post labeling Swift’s fans “narcissists” for linking his unrelated social media uploads to their brief romance.
Healy previously dated singers FKA Twigs and Halsey, as well as model Gabriella Brooks.
