Rachel Lindsay admits she regrets not taking the appropriate legal measures to protect her finances prior to getting married, as her estranged husband, Bryan Abasolo, is now seeking spousal support in their divorce.
“A lot of people are like, ‘You’re a lawyer. … Do you have a prenup?’ I don’t,” the “Bachelorette” alum revealed on the “Hidden Gems with Natasha Parker” podcast Thursday.
“The reason I didn’t is because the place I’m in now … financially … is totally different than when I got married. We were more leveled, and I wasn’t in California.”

Lindsay, 39, explained that when she and Abasolo, 44, tied the knot in August 2019 after meeting on Season 13 of “The Bachelorette,” it was a “different” time and she was leading with her heart over logic.
The “Bachelor” alum shared that she had told her then-fiancé that she thought a prenup was a good idea, but they weren’t “on the same page.”
“I didn’t want it to be a bigger issue, so we didn’t have one,” she added. “Hindsight is 20/20. I would’ve done it.”
Throughout their marriage, Lindsay earned a lot of success with hosting stints on ESPN and “Extra” in addition to launching her own podcast, “Higher Learning with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay.” She also wrote two books, “Real Love: A Novel” and “Miss Me With That.”
Abasolo, for his part, had to move his chiropractic business from Miami to Los Angeles since his wife had more opportunities on the West Coast for her entertainment endeavors. He also had a short stint as a podcast host on “Talking It Out” with fellow Bachelor Nation alum Mike Johnson.
Abasolo filed for divorce from Lindsay on Jan. 2, listing the former couple’s date of separation as just two days prior.
He noted in the court documents, previously obtained by Pvnew, that he wanted an undisclosed amount of spousal support.
Lindsay told podcast host Natasha Parker in Thursday’s episode that while her split itself was “amicable,” she thought Abasolo’s filing was “unnecessarily messy.”
“We were having issues, but we were trying to work on it,” she said.
Later in the interview, the former “Ghosted” co-host explained how she now views and treats the doctor differently — and vice versa — amid their divorce issues, which makes it difficult since they still live together.
“It’s not easy,” she admitted before explaining that she is working through her feelings with an expert because there is a notable difference in how she feels when Abasolo is home and when he’s not.
“If you feel differently when they’re gone than when they’re there, then I am holding in anxiety,” she added. “That’s something that I’m working out in therapy. … It’s stressful.”
After the divorce news broke, Abasolo said in a statement via Instagram that “sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go.”
Lindsay, meanwhile, addressed her emotions for the first time since the breakup on her podcast in January, saying, “First off. I just want to say thank you for people who reached out.
“I am going to try my best to get through this podcast, but I’m not going to talk about it — I will eventually — but now is not the time. Just trying to take it day by day.”
The former reality stars do not share any kids, and their divorce has not yet been finalized.
