They might as well change the name to the Kim Gala.
Kim Kardashian has once again made her mark on the Met Gala, showing up on the 2024 red carpet Monday wearing a corset-style dress that cinched her waist to extreme lengths.
The “Kardashians” star, 43, sported an off-the-shoulder creation by John Galliano for Maison Margiela to this year’s ball, with her metallic look including a cashmere cardigan over a silver corset made from antique brocade fabric.

Kardashian honored the night’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with her skirt, which was crafted from tooled silver metal in a pattern featuring flowers, leaves, pearls, mirror fragments and crystals.
She went low-key in terms of accessories to let her statement-making outfit shine, wearing just a Lorraine Schwartz diamond pinky ring.
This isn’t the first time the reality star has showed off a non-existent waist; she received plenty of criticism for wearing a Mugler corset after Anya Taylor Joy received similar backlash for her corseted look — by Maison Margiela — at the “Dune: Part Two” premiere earlier this year.
The Skims founder wore her hair down in beachy blond waves after switching between her signature black locks, a platinum blond ‘do and a washed-out pink pixie cut the week before the star-studded red carpet.
Her white-hot blond moment was reminiscent of her look from the 2022 ball, when she committed to embodying Marilyn Monroe by bleaching her hair, losing nearly 20 pounds and slipping into the late actress’ iconic nude-illusion dress from 1962.
The memorable Jean-Louis gown was first worn by the blond bombshell when she infamously serenaded President John F. Kennedy with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” — and Kardashian’s decision to borrow it instantly incited controversy.
Some critics speculated she may have damaged the fragile design, despite only wearing it to scale the museum steps before changing into a replica for the party; the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum, which loaned Kardashian the look for the Met, later denied it was harmed “in any way” during the outing.
While her Marilyn moment was certainly unforgettable, the mom of four has a long history of jaw-dropping Met Gala appearances — beginning with her 2013 debut at the ball, which she attended on the arm of then-boyfriend Kanye West.
The “American Horror Story: Delicate” star — who was pregnant with the now-divorced couple’s first child, North West, at the time — wore a floral Givenchy gown with built-in gloves and matching heels that inspired endless (and not particularly flattering) memes.
Other notable Met Gala moments from Kim include her corseted “wet” dress by Thierry Mugler from 2019 — for which the star even had to take breathing lessons — and her totally masked Balenciaga gown from 2021, the latter of which was inspired by West and intended as a commentary on Kardashian’s iconic and instantly recognizable silhouette.
Kardashian’s said her “biggest critic” these days is 10-year-old North, who panned her pearl-covered Schiaparelli look for the 2023 Met Gala.
Hopefully tonight’s ensemble earned North’s stamp of approval.
