Bijou Phillips ‘worried’ husband Danny Masterson will be killed in prison, refutes rape claims: report

Bijou Phillips is reportedly fearful that Danny Masterson, her husband of nearly 12 years and father of her child, will be killed in prison over his rape convictions.

A source told the Daily Mail Friday that the “Raising Hope” actress, 43, is “very worried” someone will harm the “That ’70s Show” alum in prison, noting that the “stress that is bringing her is on its own level of stress that she never has felt before.”

“It is a nightmare, but she will be on his side moving forward and continue to be present for their daughter,” the source added.

The insider claimed that although Phillips has “scary and morbid” thoughts about what may happen to her husband, she “doesn’t believe Danny will harm himself in jail.”

Less than 24 hours after the Masterson’s 30-year to life sentencing Thursday, he was reportedly placed on an around-the-clock surveillance watch while behind bars to make sure he remains “safe” and is not under any mental distress.

The former model reportedly also “can’t accept” that her longtime spouse committed the crimes for which he was convicted.

In May, Masterson was found guilty of raping two women on separate occasions in 2003.

“Danny is adamant he did nothing wrong and Bijou believes him,” the insider added.

Phillips’ feelings about her husband’s case were displayed all across her face Thursday after she left the courtroom. She was photographed looking downcast and seemed red and puffy behind her sunglasses.

The actress, whose parents were John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas and model Geneviève Waïte, is reportedly only keeping a slight positive outlook due to the hope of an appeal, which Masterson’s attorneys have said they plan to file.

“She is hanging on to the fact that she completely trusts he never did what he was charged for, she can’t accept that to be true,” an insider told the Daily Mail, “and she is looking to the appeal process for justice to be served.”

Bijou, who married Masterson in 2011 and shares a 9-year-old daughter, Fianna Francis, with him, remained supportive throughout all of his legal trials and tribulations.

The former New York City socialite was often snapped walking beside “The Ranch” alum and holding his hand as they walked into the courthouse together.

Bijou also wrote a letter to the judge ahead of her husband’s sentencing to advocate for his character, calling him an “amazing father” who was “devoted” to their daughter.

“I never once heard him complain. The two were inseparable,” she claimed.

Bijou also called Masterson a “life-saving partner” in her letter and praised him for being anti-drugs and allegedly shielding “younger actors he worked with from such temptations.”

She concluded in her heartfelt note, “We need him more than you can imagine. I know he has been convicted of serious crimes. But the man I married has only been an extraordinary husband to me and a devoted father to our daughter.”

Aside from Bijou, several of Masterson’s “That ’70s Show” co-stars, including Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, also wrote personal letters to the judge with the goal of helping to reduce his sentence.

“Danny has been nothing but a positive influence on me. He’s an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being,” Kutcher, 45, gushed in his note, also calling his pal a “role model.”

Meanwhile, Kunis, 40, for her part claimed Masterson had been an “amazing friend,” “confidant” and “outstanding older brother figure.”

Their remarks and those of fellow actors Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Giovanni Ribisi and Billy Baldwin have been widely met with criticism online given that Masterson had already been found guilty of drugging and raping his sexual assault victims before the letters were written.
