The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart revealed on Instagram that he has been struggling with alcoholism – and opens up about it in their new single.
Sitting at a piano while playing the duo’s new tune with bludnymph, “Self Destruction Mode,” Taggart used the video’s caption to describe his “flawed nature.”
“i’ve struggled with drinking throughout my career as it’s an addiction that’s woven into the environment we exist in,” he began his statement.
“this guilt of not being good enough or not being better ironically sends me into a spiral that restarts my bad habit cycle.”
Taggart, 33, ended his message sharing that the new tune is not “a cry for help” but rather “an embrace or celebration” of who he is.
“i know that im [sic] flawed. i know that i am great and so are you,” he concluded. “Never forget it.”
Pvnew exclusively reported in September 2021 that Taggart, who forms The Chainsmokers with Alex Pall, was partying hard at The Palace and flirting with various women while there.
“Drew was definitely having a great time and trying to hook up with every girl,” our insider shared at the time.
His attempts appeared to be successful, as we were told the “Closer” musician left with some tech billionaires, including Mikey Hess.
“[He] definitely brought home one of the gals,” the source added.
Taggart’s Cassanova ways seemed tempered for a while as he was briefly rumored to be dating Selena Gomez when they were spotted holding hands during a night out.
However, the pair fizzled and she was later rumored to be striking up a romance with former One Direction member Zayn Malik.
Last week, she clarified that she was “single” while flirting with a group of soccer players.
