Alex Cooper revealed that her friendship with former “Call Her Daddy” co-host, Sofia Franklyn, “was going to end” regardless of their highly publicized contract blowout at Barstool Sports.
The podcasters — and former BFFs — hosted the wildly popular show together for two years before parting ways amid a contentious contract renegotiation in early 2020.
“We had personal conversations, this s–t was so bad behind the scenes like it was going to end,” Cooper, 29, said on Barstool Radio Tuesday.
She made a brief appearance on the show — hosted by Kevin Clancy, John Feitelberg and Tom Scibelli — while visiting the New York City office of Dave Portnoy’s media company.
When one of the co-hosts asked whether her dynamic was Franklyn was “toxic,” she simply responded with a “yeah.”
“It was time,” she went on. “And I think it’s great we’re now both doing our own things.”
Cooper became the sole host of “Call Her Daddy” in May 2020, eventually taking the sex-positive show to Spotify where she inked a $60 million deal with the tech giant.
As for Franklyn, she now hosts the “Sofia with an F” podcast.
“I never spoke to her again after that,” Cooper divulged. “I don’t think she would ever reach out, I don’t know if there’s anything to say … I think it’s kind of done.”
The former soccer star said the friendship drama now “feels so far away” because she’s been hosting the podcast for longer than they “did it together.”
“It feels like so long ago that it happened that I don’t [even] think about it,” she said.
Cooper has rarely spoken publicly about her ex friend, 30, after addressing the drama in her first solo episode in May 2020.
“The last back-and-forth, big communication I had with Sofia was f–king awful,” the Boston University alum said at the time.
“She said some things to me that I can’t imagine ever saying to a friend.”
While Franklyn — and her then-boyfriend Peter Nelson — pushed for full ownership of the “Call Her Daddy” intellectual property at the time, it was Cooper who kept the podcast as she was willing to negotiate with Portnoy.
The blond beauty also claimed that she did an inordinate amount of the podcast labor, including editing, brand building and social media.
