Jenelle Evans’ husband, David Eason, has been charged with child abuse following her teen son Jace’s third disappearance last month, Pvnew can /confirm/i.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ Tuesday that the father of three is facing a misdemeanor charge, but no further details were provided.
Evans and Eason could not immediately be reached for comment.
Jace’s grandmother, Barbara Evans, had custody of him for most of his life before Jenelle regained parental rights over the 14-year-old in March.
However, the teen has gone missing three times since August, which the “Teen Mom” star previously claimed was just due to him acting out because his phone had been taken away.
Jenelle, 31, reassured her fans that Jace was “fine,” “healthy” and “safe.”
Following the young man’s third disappearance, though, Barbara alleged to law enforcement that Eason was the real reason her grandson kept running away.
A police report obtained by Ashley’s Reality Roundup stated that the concerned grandmother claimed she had spoken to Jace, who allegedly told her “about being assaulted by David Eason and that he ran away and was hiding.”
Jenelle immediately took to Twitter to deny the allegations, stating at the time, “This isn’t about David whether you want to blame him or not.
“My mom says a lot of untrue things lately to everyone about me but wanted me to have custody? Imagine what you don’t hear from my side.”
TMZ then reported that both Jenelle and Eason were under investigation for child neglect. Reps for the couple did not return Pvnew’s requests for comment about the case.
According to the outlet, officers allegedly found Jace with visible bruises on his neck and arms earlier this month, and Child Protective Services reportedly obtained Ring footage that purports to show an altercation.
Eason, 35, has also not addressed the allegations on social media and instead posted a link to his music on Spotify via his Instagram Story earlier on Tuesday.
In addition to Jace, he and Jenelle have a blended family that includes four other children.
