Suzanne Somers’ husband, Alan Hamel, is mourning the loss of his “beautiful” wife, who died Sunday following a years-long battle with cancer.
Hamel, 87, posted an emotional tribute to the late actress via Instagram on Monday, alongside several snaps of the couple cuddled up to one another.
“LOVE … THERE IS NO VERSION OF THE WORD LOVE THAT IS APPLICABLE TO SUZANNE. THE CLOSEST VERSION IN WORDS ISN’T EVEN CLOSE,” he began.
“IT’S NOT EVEN A FRACTION OF A FRACTION OF A FRACTION,” he continued.
”UNConDITIONAL LOVE DOES NOT DO IT. I’LL TAKE A BULLET FOR YOU DOESN’T DO IT.”
The producer, who wed Somers in 1977, “WEEPS” when he thinks about his deep “FEELINGS” for the late actress — yet he says even the word “FEELINGS” can’t fully encompass the scope of his emotions.
“55 YEARS TOGETHER, 46 MARRIED AND NOT EVEN ONE HOUR APART FOR 42 OF THOSE YEARS. EVEN THAT DOESN’T DO IT.”
“EVEN GOING TO BED AT 6 O’CLOCK AND HOLDING HANDS WHILE WE SLEEP DOESN’T DO IT,” he continued. “STARING AT YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE WHILE YOU SLEEP DOESN’T DO IT.”
Despite his best efforts, Hamel says there are “NO WORDS,” “ACTIONS,” “PROMISES” or “DECLARATIONS” that would be enough to sum up his love for the “Three’s Company” star.
“WE ARE ONE,” he concluded. “I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU, MY BEAUTIFUL SUZANNE, FOR ALL OF ETERNITY.”
Pvnew broke the news on Sunday that Somers had died at the age of 76.
“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Oct. 15. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” her publicist, R. Couri Hay, told us.
“Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband, Alan, her son, Bruce, and her immediate family.”
Since the Somers family was already planning to get together on Monday to celebrate the actress’s 77th birthday, they decided to use the opportunity to “celebrate her extraordinary life” instead.
“A private family burial will take place this week, with a memorial to follow next month.”
Although Somers passed just one day before her birthday, Hamel was still able to give her an early birthday present.
An insider told Pvnew that the producer gifted his wife “a handwritten love poem wrapped in her favorite pink peonies.”
The “Step by Step” actress “read the poem and went to bed and later died peacefully in her sleep,” according to People.
The sweet letter was reportedly very similar to the blurb Hamel shared on Instagram — yet included a few extra sentiments.
The tragic news came three months after Hamel announced that his wife’s breast cancer had returned.
Somers was first diagnosed with breast cancer in her 50s after previously battling skin cancer and overcoming “two hyperplasia” in her earlier years.
However, Somers never let her diagnosis bring her down.
“I have been living with cancer since my 20s. And every time that little f—ker pops up, I continue to bat it back,” she said in a statement shared with “Entertainment Tonight” in July. “I do my best not to let this insidious disease control me.”
In fact, the actress said that it had brought her and Hamel “even closer.”
Somers is survived by her husband, son Bruce Jr., stepchildren Stephen and Leslie as well as six grandkids.
