After NBA star Jimmy Butler unveiled a new and unexpected silk press hair style at a Miami Heat press conference last week — his teammates are already thinking about prank holiday gifts for the star.
“A few of his teammates were making jokes about him ‘sweating out his edges,’ and vying for a hair endorsement with a beauty line,” an insider told Pvnew.
The Heat power forward is known for rocking various hairstyles — including dreadlocks and corn rows — in addition to sporting colorful manicures.
But his recent emo styling gave his teammates — and Heat staffers — some ideas, we hear.
“It was all in love, but they are already planning Christmas gifts that they feel Jimmy will be into — like a hot comb, rollers and an edge controller,” said a source.
Butler has already ditched the new hairdo, and his coach, Erik Spoelstra, has told the local Miami press of his unpredictable looks, “He likes to come in and keep you guys off balance.”
When the 34-year-old was questioned about his styling choices recently, he responded, “I had dreads last year, for the last time.” Of his short-lived emo look, he told reporters, “This is my emotional state. I’m one with my emotions. So, this is what you get.”
The Olympic gold medalist recently opened up to Rolling Stone, and revealed that he is a big country music fan, and is currently working on a country album with a full 45 songs on deck.
“I don’t want to tell anyone who I’ve been writing with because then it’ll ruin the surprise,” he said.
“Now, I’m in the lab writing and producing country music. We got some real artists and songwriters. We probably got around 45 tracks right now, and I hope to go write some more,” the player added.
“Maybe a week before training camp I’ll get down and do some. There’s definitely going to be an album. That’s the goal.”
