Caitlyn Jenner admits that she tried to dodge daughter Kim Kardashian’s sex tape scandal as best as she could after the racy video with Ray J leaked in 2007.
“Whatever’s going on, I don’t know what it is and I’m gonna go to the golf course,” the Olympic gold medalist, 73, recalled thinking in a new confessional for Sky’s three-part docuseries “House of Kardashian.“
“To be honest with you, I just stayed out of it,” she added, per E! News.
“Kris [Jenner] never talked to me about it. I never talked to Kimberly about it. I don’t know what happened, why it happened.”
When probed about whether her ex-wife, 67, and their daughter, 42, worked “together to release” the sex tape for publicity – a rumor that’s been ongoing for nearly two decades – Caitlyn simply said, “I have no idea.”
“I never, ever once had that conversation – or did I want to have that conversation,” she explained.
As previously reported, Kardashian filmed the infamous sex tape while dating then-boyfriend Ray J.
It was leaked several months before the premiere of her family’s now-famous E! reality series, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” which featured Caitlyn.
The highly publicized scandal was addressed during the October 2007 premiere and continued to play out in various scenes throughout the show’s 20 seasons.
In the series premiere, Kris said, “When I first heard about Kim’s sex tape, as her mother, I wanted to kill her. But as her manager, I knew that I had a job to do and I really just wanted her to move past it.”
When the show ended in 2021, Kardashian admitted that the tape still haunts her.
“That is something that I have to live with for the rest of my life,” Kardashian said during the show’s reunion special. “I try not to have any regrets, but it’s probably the one thing I wish didn’t exist and if I could erase any of the stupid things that I’ve done in life that’s probably it.”
Caitlyn’s new comments come shortly after she alleged the Skims founder “calculated” her way to fame.
The remark was revealed in a dramatic preview for “House Of Kardashian,” which explores the family’s dynamics, scandals and personal struggles. However, after the clip made its way online, Caitlyn told TMZ that she regrets using the term and didn’t intend it as a diss.
A source further told Pvnew that Caitlyn relayed her regrets to Kardashian. “All is good and well,” the insider said. “Kim knows Caitlyn’s heart and intentions were positive. They’re close and have spoken about this.”
Caitlyn, who was married to Kris for 23 years, said in a statement at the time of the trailer’s release that she was “happy” to highlight her family’s “prowess” in “captivating the world’s attention.”
“I am incredibly proud of all my children and stepchildren,” she added.
“House of Kardashian” is currently available to view in the UK on Sky documentaries and streaming service Now.
