Celebrities are using their platforms to show support for Israel and denounce Hamas’s catastrophic terrorist attack on innocent Israeli civilians that left at least 1,000 people dead — including at least 11 Americans.
On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas stormed a music festival with gunfire, launched rockets into Israel, broke into civilians’ homes and killed, kidnapped, tortured and raped innocent Israeli men, women, children, elderly and Holocaust survivors.
The brutal attack marked the single deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.
From Hollywood stars to influencers, here are the vocal celebrities standing up for Israel.
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot, who was born in Israel, took to Instagram to mourn the loss of her people and shed light on the atrocities of Hamas.
“I stand with Israel you should too,” the “Wonder Woman” actress wrote in a post. “The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!”
In another post, she shared a news report about hundreds of women, children and elderly being taken hostage, writing, “My heart is aching. Praying for all of those in pain.”
Gadot is asking for donations to be made to JAFNA’s Fund for Victims of Terror.
The Israeli actress has also pointed out the harmful propaganda circling online.
“The goal of propaganda is to dehumanize. It works to dehumanize Israelis and it works to dehumanize Gazans,” she wrote via her Instagram Story. “I like to think most of us are above propaganda.
“But this weekend reminded me how widespread it is. Because a lot of people reacted to this violence with justification, not empathy,” she continued. “I guess it’s not surprising, but it’s still heartbreaking.”
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman shared that her heart is “shattered” for the people of Israel.
“Children, women and the elderly have been murdered and abducted from their own homes,” the “Black Swan” actress, who was born in Israel, wrote in a statement on Instagram.
“I am in horror at these barbaric acts and my heart is pounding with love and prayer for the families of all affected.”
Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer attended a pro-Israel rally in New York City to show her support.
She also used social media to share facts, news updates, videos and messages about the attack.
“As we all know, this is the deadliest event that has happened to the Jewish people since the holocaust,” she wrote in a statement via her Instagram Story. “To my non-Jewish friends, call your Jewish friends.”
“Chances are, they are the direct descendants of holocaust survivors. They are scared, they are hurting and they are terrified by your silence,” the comedian concluded.
The “I Feel Pretty” actress also joined an Instagram Live discussion with Noa Tishby, a commentator who combats antisemitism.
Jerry Seinfeld and Jessica Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica Seinfeld, shared their love for the State of Israel on social media.
“I lived and worked on a Kibbutz in Israel when I was 16 and I have loved our Jewish homeland ever since,” the “Seinfeld” alum wrote in an Instagram post along with an “I stand with Israel” infographic.
“My heart is breaking from these attacks and atrocities. But we are also a very strong people in our hearts and minds,” he added. “We believe in justice, freedom and equality. We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.
Jessica also shared a similar sentiment while sharing “heinous” quotes from Hamas leaders pledging to wipe out the Jewish people.
“It is important to be clear about messaging, as it is in the following slides,” she wrote in a statement on Instagram. “Innocent Palestinians who live in Gaza who are not Hamas, deserve to be free.”
“Hews who life in and outside of Israel are not the Israeli government,” she added. “They deserve to live without fear for being Jewish (or massacred for the same reason.)”
Debra Messing
Debra Messing shared several messages of support for Israel online. She also posted videos documenting the horrors of Hamas’s attack.
“Hamas is an internationally recognized terrorist group, backed by Iran, whose doctrine-stated-mission is to kill every Jew in the world. To annihilate every Jew in Israel and dismantle the democracy,” one of her Instagram posts stated.
“This is not a two sided conflict. This is a coordinated terrorist attack. The only thing that should be in your mind and heart today is compassion and prayers for Israel.”
Like Schumer, the “Will & Grace” alum also appeared in an Instagram Live discussion with Tishby to help educate those struggling to understand the conflict.
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner shared a message of support for Israel — though she deleted her post an hour later.
The “Kardashians” star initially re-posted a message from the pro-Israel account @StandWithUs via her Instagram Story that read, “Now and always we stand with the people of Israel!” over a photo of the Israeli flag.
The post was captioned, “SHARE if you stand with the people of Israel as they face one of the most frightening situations in many years.”
Jenner deleted the message shortly after receiving a barrage of free Palestine messages in the comments section of her Instagram.
Kris Jenner
Kris Jenner shared that she supported Israel in the nation’s war against Hamas.
She re-posted via her Instagram Story the same @StandWithUs post that Kylie initially shared, though the momager did not delete her post despite the backlash she received.
Claudia Oshry and Ben Soffer
Claudia Oshry and her husband, Ben Soffer, have both advocated for Israel after the slaughter.
The GirlWithNoJob founder captioned a “Today I stand with Israel” post on Instagram, “Today. Tomorrow. Forever. #ProudZionist
