Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan may have only dated for three years, but their relationship lives on as they raise their son, Jack.
The former couple debuted their romance in 2004, breaking up in 2006 before the actress discovered her pregnancy in 2007.
Brady, who had not planned to have children until his late 30s, told Howard Stern in a 2020 interview that he was “challenged” to “grow up” when the news broke.

Since their baby boy’s arrival, the exes have remained mostly amicable while marrying other people, welcoming more children and co-parenting.
Their tumultuous past, however, resurfaced in 2024 when Brady was roasted for “walk[ing] away” from his then-pregnant girlfriend.

Sweet shows of support
Brady and Moynahan hard-launched their romance after his February 2004 Super Bowl win by showing PDA at an afterparty, per Sports Illustrated.
The duo continued stepping out together throughout the year, from her “I, Robot” premiere to the ESPY Awards.
At the time, they had yet to speak publicly about their bond.
Singing her praises
Brady broke his silence on their relationship during a June 2005 appearance on “60 Minutes.”
“I can be myself around her, and there’s not many people I can be myself around,” the athlete gushed. “It’s fun to be around your best friends who know you well, and she’s someone that I consider one of my very best friends.”
Although he credited Moynahan with “help[ing]” him settle down, Brady requested to move on to the “next question” when asked about marrying her.
Met Gala debut
The New England Patriots player and Moynahan were all smiles walking their first Met Gala red carpet together in May 2006.
The pair matched in black, with the “Blue Bloods” star stunning in a strapless dress and statement necklace as her beau rocked a tuxedo.
The ball’s theme that year was “AngloMania.”
End of an era
Just seven months later, Brady and Moynahan called it quits.
“[They] amicably ended their three-year relationship several weeks ago,” the former model’s rep confirmed in December 2006. “We ask for your respect and consideration of their privacy. No further comments will be made.”
Moynahan looked back on “that traumatic time of being heartbroken” in a July 2008 Harper’s Bazaar interview.
Pregnancy surprise
The New York Post broke Moynahan’s pregnancy news in February 2007.
Her spokesperson later confirmed that Brady, who had moved on with supermodel Gisele Bündchen, was the father.
The then-expectant star admitted to being “a little nervous” during a “Martha Stewart Show” appearance — but said she had experience spending time with her nephews.
Moynahan recalled the stressful time in an essay for “Our Shoes, Our Selves” in 2019, writing, “Being pregnant and having a baby are such personal, intimate moments. As a new mother, you want to just protect your child.
“That kind of attention felt like a threat,” she continued.
As for Bündchen, she told Vanity Fair in a March 2023 cover story that Moynahan’s pregnancy was a “challenge” in her relationship with Brady but eventually “awakened [her] … desire of being a mom.”
Baby boy’s birth
Moynahan gave birth to son Jack, whose real name is John, in August 2007.
Brady flew to Los Angeles to be there for the infant’s arrival, returning three months later during a bye week.
The new mom later clarified to More magazine that the quarterback was “not in the room,” saying, “He was there on that day and came in afterward. He certainly wasn’t holding my hand while I was pushing.”
Moving on
After Brady and Bündchen wed in February 2009, the couple welcomed son Benjamin and daughter Vivian in December 2009 and December 2012, respectively.
Moynahan publicly congratulated their expanding family.
The “Las Vegas” alum, for her part, married businessman Andrew Frankel in October 2015.
Co-parenting confessions
In April 2019, Moynahan gushed about her and Brady’s co-parenting dynamic to People.
“We both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child, but also loved our child as if he was their own,” she told People. “I don’t think you can ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love and grandparents that go on forever, and it’s all good.”
Bündchen notably refers to Jack as her “bonus child” — and has continued to since divorcing Brady in October 2022.
However, she and Moynahan initially experienced a “roller coaster” before working on their relationship.
“You have moments where you get to the sticky points and you’ve gotta overcome it,” the former Victoria’s Secret Angel told Vanity Fair.
“My goal was always, ‘How can I be the most helpful? How can I make it the easiest I possibly can?’” she continued. “We’re not playing against each other. We are a team, and that’s beautiful.”
Social media celebrations
Not only has Brady honored Moynahan on Mother’s Day via Instagram multiple times, but she has celebrated many of his career milestones over the years.
Moynahan congratulated the NFL legend on his 2015 Super Bowl win after “Deflate-Gate” and again when he won another ring six years later.
She hilariously breathed a sigh of relief when Brady reversed his retirement decision in 2022, joking, “Thank God, I had no idea what I was going to do with my Sundays.”
Roast reaction
After Nikki Glaser joked about Moynahan and Brady’s breakup in Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady” in May 2024, the “Serendipity” star re-posted a cryptic Instagram quote.
The shady upload read, “Loyal people take s–t more personal because they never would’ve did that s–t to you.”
Moynahan was all smiles when she stepped out for the first time after the wisecrack.
