Hoda Kotb admitted that it was difficult to see Wendy Williams break down over her financial and personal battles in a trailer for her new documentary.

“I have to tell you, I did see some of this Wendy Williams documentary, just a clip, and it made me sad to watch it,” Kotb said on Tuesday’s episode of “Today with Hoda and Jenna.”

Kotb explained that she’s “known Wendy for many years,” so it made the entire ordeal even more “heartbreaking.”

Kotb and her co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, watched a clip of the trailer as part of their “Scoop” segment, and their guest, E! News host Justin Sylvester, reminded them that Williams was “involved” in the making of it to “tell her side of the story.”

“Yeah, I mean I think we’re just cheering her on,” Kotb added. “You just want her to be healthy and happy, and it’s hard to watch her in that state, but we hope the best for her.”

Bush Hager nodded and agreed with her co-anchor.

Kotb didn’t elaborate on how the two know each other, but both she and Williams have been staples on television talk shows since getting their start on different networks in 2008.

The duo, both 59, were even photographed together in 2010 while attending Melissa Rivers’ book release party in New York City.

Kotb and Bush Hager, 42, were reacting to the trailer for her new documentary, “Where Is Wendy Williams?,” which dropped on Monday.

In the bombshell trailer, the former “Wendy Williams Show” host discussed her financial issues, battles with substance abuse and challenges living under a guardianship.

“I have no money,” she said in a confessional.

The documentary also includes interviews with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., and her sister, Wanda.

“I love being famous,” Williams admitted in another confessional. “But family is everything — everything.”

Williams hasn’t been spotted in public for nearly a year. Pvnew reported that she entered a treatment center amid her battle with alcohol abuse in June 2023.
