Never say never.
While Christina Applegate said the 2023 SAG Awards would likely be her “last awards show as an actor,” she thrilled fans by presenting an award at the 2024 Emmys in a plunging red dress on Monday.
The “Dead to Me” actress, 52 — who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021 — walked with the assistance of a cane as she appeared on stage to a standing ovation and was overcome with emotion, crying in front of the crowd.
She looked sophisticated in her burgundy velvet gown by Christian Siriano with peplum detail at the waist, burying her head in host Anthony Anderson’s shoulder as she was overcome with emotion.
“Body not by Ozempic,” the “Up All Night” star joked.
Applegate wore her blond hair in a bouncy blowout, accessorizing with two long gold pendant necklaces as she presented the Best Supporting Actress award to Ayo Edebiri.
Last year, Applegate attended the SAG Awards in a chic Christian Siriano tux dress, walking with the assistance of a bedazzled cane reading “FU MS” on it.
She even helped design a stylish black-and-white cane ($150) for mobility aid brand Neo Walk featuring a “FU MS” collar and tag on it.
Her SAGs look isn’t the first time she’s said “f–k you” to MS; Applegate wore the same message on her nails during her 2022 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
As for the Emmys, Applegate was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the Netflix comedy, marking her 8th Emmy nomination, though she lost out to Quinta Brunson.
Although she’s been nominated on numerous occasions for “Dead to Me” and “Samantha Who?,” the star’s only Emmy win came for her guest appearance as Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green’s sister on “Friends” in 2003.
The 2024 Emmys air Monday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX and streaming on Hulu Tuesday, Jan. 16.
