Bump, set, bid! Matt Damon and Paul Rudd win volleyball lessons at gala

On “Sex and the City” 20 years ago, Cynthia Nixon’s lawyer character, Miranda Hobbes, quipped at the daunting prospect of moving to Brooklyn with her family, “I’m a Manhattan girl. I don’t like anything not Manhattan.”

She also exclaimed to her glamorous pals, “I can’t move to Brooklyn, even cabs won’t go there!”

How times have changed.

Even celebs have since been flocking to the borough.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s 10th annual Black Tie Ball had a guest list that could’ve rivaled a Hollywood awards show.

Attendees included Matt Damon, Paul Rudd, Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, Seth Meyers, Jennifer Connolly and Paul Bettany, “Stranger Things” star David Harbour, “Today” host Savannah Guthrie and former NBA star and podcaster JJ Redick.

(Other stars who’ve become Brooklyn residents include the likes of Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, Amy Schumer, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, and more.)

Also at the gala this year — which honored Maisonette co-founder and former Met Gala guru Sylvana Durrett, as well as former Maimonides Medical Center CEO Pamela Brier and Rainbow Room restauranteur Peter Aschkenasy — were fashion designers Ulla Johnson and Marcus Wainwright.

The night included a live auction and raised over $1.6 million for Brooklyn Bridge Park.

A spy told us that when Russell introduced Durrett, the quick-thinking actress and her “The Americans” costar and off-screen husband Rhys created a spontaneous auction item “that sold Durrett’s skills as a former NCAA Division I volleyball player at Princeton to teach volleyball at Pier 6” in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Damon, 53, and Rudd, 54, both bid on the lot and won. So don’t be surprised if you spot the duo bumping, setting and spiking along the East River one morning soon.

Also at the gala were Brooklyn Bridge Park president Eric Landau and the conservancy’s board chair Chris Coffey, as well as its executive director Nancy Webster.
