For the first time in 20 years, Victoria Beckham has spoken out about her husband David Beckham’s alleged affair with Rebecca Loos.
“It was the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life,” the fashion designer recalled in the retired soccer star’s 2023 Netflix docuseries, “Beckham.”
The scandal first broke in 2004 when David’s personal assistant Loos publicly claimed to be having an affair with the athlete after he had relocated to Spain to play for Real Madrid, leaving his wife of four years home in England with their young sons.
David was quick to deny the allegations at the time.
“During the past few months, I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life. … The simple truth is that I am very happily married,” he said in a statement, per the “Today” show.
“[I] have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change these facts.”
The Inter Miami co-owner has continued to deny any wrongdoing, describing in “Beckham” how painful the gossip was for him.
“Victoria is everything to me. To see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters, and at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family,” he explained.
Despite David’s pushback, Loos has stood by her claims. Learn more about her below.
What did she say about the alleged affair?
After affair rumors began in 2003, Loos went on the record with Sky News in April 2004 and extensively described her alleged dalliance with the heartthrob, even sharing the exact dates they allegedly got together.
Describing their first night, she claimed, “We just really hit it off. It was the first time. We were just locked into each other all night conversation-wise. We just connected. People noticed it.”
The Spanish model and media personality went on to claim David had made several advances at her, and although she initially denied them, she decided she would accept.
“I couldn’t wait to be alone with him, and I knew he felt the same,” she recalled. “We dropped off the other two people in the car and starting kissing quite passionately all the way back to the hotel.”
Loos claimed that after their first night together, they began sexting.
“He always instigated it, I would never be the first to text,” she told Sky News.
“You have got to remember, he is a married man. What if he is at lunch with Victoria? You have to wait for him to come to you.”
How did she become famous?
There is not much known about Loos’ childhood, but she rose to fame when the affair rumors started.
After she stopped working for David, Loos used her newfound notoriety to become a reality television star, having appeared on “Celebrity Love Island,” “The X Factor: Battle of the Stars” and more.
She also acted in a handful of projects, with her last being a short film that debuted in 2011, per IMDb.
Loos is also known in the UK for pleasuring a pig on the British series “The Farm” in 2004, the same year she accused David of cheating.
Reality TV is what set the actress on a new trajectory, however.
She met her future husband and father to her children while filming the reality show “71 Degrees North.”
Where does she live now?
Loos met Norwegian doctor Sven Christjar Skaiaa on “71 Degrees North” and became pregnant with their first child in 2008.
She left England behind for a new life in Norway and never looked back.
“Sven is an outdoor man and mountain lover and was not prepared to move to London — so it was I who moved to Norway so we could bring our son up together,” she told the Sun in a 2018 interview.
“I thought to myself that if it doesn’t work out in Norway I can always move back to London. That was 10 years ago.”
Loos now has two sons with Skaiaa: Magnus and Liam. The couple walked down the aisle in 2012 and live in the Nordic mountains with their kids.
“We want to bring up our children surrounded by nature — playing outdoors as much as possible, skiing, hiking, biking, learning about nature and, most importantly, loving and respecting it. We would be nothing without it,” she said.
What is her life like today?
Although Loos admitted to missing city life, she couldn’t imagine herself living anywhere other than she is now.
She is a proud yogi, dedicated mother and passionate wellness content creator.
“I’m up at 5 a.m. every day to practice yoga for two hours before taking the kids to school and heading to work in my little yoga studio in the village center, where I normally teach two classes,” she told the Sun of her daily routine at the time.
Loos also said she prioritizes making healthy, plant-based meals for her family and has almost completely cut out drinking from her life.
“I really feel the side effects of even just half a glass of wine, so I rarely touch it so I can always practice my yoga with a clear head,” she noted.
Does she regret the alleged affair?
Loos does not regret speaking out about her alleged affair with David, who is now a father of four.
“I just felt the need to be truthful,” she explained in a 2020 episode of “Celebrity: A 21st-Century Story,” per the UK’s Closer.
“Whether you’ve done something that’s right or wrong, it was kind of just eating me up. I was living a lie and keeping secrets.”
