Joy Behar revealed that she was actually fired from “Good Morning America” twice despite previously opening up about one of the firings.
During Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” actress Melissa Rauch revealed that she had gotten fired from a secretary job, which led Whoopi Goldberg to chime in that she hadn’t been the only one.
“There’s another bad secretary at this table too,” Goldberg, 68, said while looking at Behar. “She got fired.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin, 55, then clarified that Behar specifically “got fired from ‘GMA.'”
“Twice,” Behar, 81, quickly added with a smile.
Although she didn’t specify why she got the axe, she had previously discussed losing her job as a receptionist at the morning show in the 1980s.
“First of all, I’d like to say that when I was fired from ‘Good Morning America’ years ago, I was the worst receptionist they’ve ever had!” she said in a November 2022 episode of “The View.”
But there was no bad blood between Behar and her former co-workers as she explained that they took her to Chippendales as a “goodbye present.”
“It’s fabulous!” she said of the male striptease performance.
She later returned to “GMA” as a producer, while occasionally performing stand-up bits. However, she didn’t clarify the second position she was fired from.
In addition to getting the boot from “GMA” twice, Behar was also fired from “The View” in 2013 after 16 years on the talk show.
Nonetheless, Behar made several guest appearances for two years on the show before being brought back full-time for Season 19 in 2015.
In a Time interview, the former “Joy Behar Show” host talked about her “forced” pause and even confessed to being “glad” it happened.
“I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why,” Behar said in July 2022.
