Andy Cohen advised Tom Schwartz to watch what he says after the “Vanderpump Rules” star’s bombshell-filled “Watch What Happens Live” appearance.
“I told Tom Schwartz [that] you answer the question and then you stop talking, and when you stop talking, that means I have to say something,” the TV host shared on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live” Monday.
Cohen interviewed Schwartz on his late-night talk show last Wednesday for the first time since Scandoval, the cheating scandal that has rocked the “Pump Rules” cast and its fans.
During the broadcast, Schwartz made several headline-making revelations about his best friend, Tom Sandoval, having an affair with their co-star Raquel Leviss while in a nearly 10-year relationship with Ariana Madix.
Schwartz, 40, rambled on so much that Cohen, 54, called out his “word salad” at one point during the episode and promised to share interview tips afterward.
“I think one of the reasons that people were so just enraged and activated about Wednesday’s ‘Watch What Happens Live’ was that Tom was giving answers, and he would say an answer, and then he would keep talking, and then he would keep talking some more, and then in the final stretch of still talking maybe even totally contradict himself,” the “Daddy Diaries” author reflected Monday.
Cohen then pointed out three examples from the shocking interview: Schwartz calling his ex-wife, Katie Maloney, a “monster”; Schwartz describing Sandoval and Leviss’ post-affair relationship as “toxic”; and Schwartz encouraging people to give Sandoval a hug.
“I asked him how’s [Sandoval] doing, and he’s like, ‘Tom is really bad. He’s a shell of himself.’ Just leave it there! Leave it there!” the producer said.
“What he went on to say was, ‘If you see him, give him a hug.’ Now that for some people was kind of a bridge too far.”

Cohen said he also told Schwartz that he could have just said “there’s a lot of heat on” Sandoval, 40, and Leviss, 28, without spilling the tea on the lovers’ current status.
Among his many revelations, Schwartz told “WWHL” viewers that he knew Sandoval and Leviss had a one-night stand in August 2022, that Sandoval told him he was “in love” with Leviss in January and that Sandoval is “addicted” to Leviss.
Sandoval and Leviss’ months-long affair was exposed last month after Madix, 37, found out and dumped him.
Bravo filmed the fallout before the cast reconvened for what Cohen previously described as a “nuclear” reunion taping.
“Vanderpump Rules” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
