Screen time is a rarity in the Barrymore household.

During a recent interview with Better Homes & Gardens, Drew Barrymore admitted that she has some strict rules when it comes to personal electronics for daughters Olive, 10, and Frankie, 9.

“We watch a ton of movies and shows so I’m not judging anyone about screens,” she told the outlet in the interview published Thursday. “But when it comes to my kids, I’m not a huge fan of personal electronics, like iPads.”

“During the pandemic when schools were virtual we were forced into all being on our separate devices and I didn’t like it,” she continued. “Now, I keep the iPads in a locked safe and they only come out for special occasions.”

However, the “Charlie’s Angels” star admits that she loves when “the three of us all pile into my bed and watch together.”

Without personal devices to keep them entertained, Barrymore joked that anywhere they go “feels like home.”

“Even if we’re just at a restaurant, I pour out the contents of my bag—my camera, my crossword puzzle, my lip balm, my book, a deck of cards — and we’re right at home,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actress opened up about other household changes she has made ever since becoming a mom.

“I can’t bear to see a sharp edge in my space,” Barrymore said of her design style. “I look at it and think, that corner could take out somebody’s eyeball! Even my kitchen island has a soft edge.”

She adds, “The minute I walked into that room for the first time I said, we need to sand that right down!”

Although Barrymore has tried to make her daughter’s lives at home as comfortable as possible, the “Never Been Kissed” actress has had a “hard” time raising them in the public eye.

During an episode of her eponymous talk show in February, the mother of two broke down in tears while talking about how her daughters “didn’t sign up for” a life of scrutiny.

“Don’t f–k with my kids. This is not OK,” Barrymore said through tears, noting that social media has added an extra “layer” of difficulty when it comes to parenting.

Despite still navigating motherhood, Barrymore revealed in January that “co-parenting” with ex-husband Will Kopelman has “never been better.”

“Although we might not be married anymore, and he’s even married with his beautiful new wife Allie [Michler], our wonderful stepmother, we’re in a daily engagement and our relationship has never been better,” she said on her talk show.

“We should champion our exes, and you don’t have to be best friends, especially if they have a new person in their life,” the actress continued.

The former couple split up in 2016 after four years of marriage. Prior to that, Barrymore was married to Tom Green from 2001 to 2002 and Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995.
