Tinashe may be a stunning star who’s used to performing in front of packed audiences. But it seems she’s still a little shy at parties.

The recent Shawn Carter Foundation gala was a who’s who of industry insiders and superstars. But she told Pvnew that she wouldn’t be able to make the most of a prime networking opportunity until she’d ordered up some liquid courage.

“I am going to try to network tonight but I’m not a good networker,” she told us, “So I’m just going to stand around and find some champagne and then hopefully people will approach me. But I do try. I am working on it.”

The “2 On” singer told us she needs “at least two drinks” told feel social.

“I have to keep it cute. I am just not good at it. I am not that outgoing. I am not good at going up to people and being like ‘Hi!’ if I don’t know them,” she said.

She told us why she admires Jay Z’s philanthropic work.

“[The] Shawn Carter Foundation is so inspiring and to be able to give back to marginalized communities, to children, I think that is so amazing, so hopefully I can inspire people in the future as well and this is just a step in that direction,” she said, “I just want to soak in all the energy tonight.”

The Shawn Carter Foundation raised $20 million at the event, which will be used to help people facing socioeconomic hardships further their education at post-secondary institutions.
