Tori Spelling, who is allegedly in financial trouble amid her split from Dean McDermott, is reportedly upset that her mom, Candy Spelling, is “spoiling” reality star Josh Flagg.
“Tori and Candy have long had a fraught mother-daughter relationship,” a family friend told the Daily Mail on Saturday.
“But now, when Tori is feeling particularly vulnerable with money being tight and her relationship with Dean in limbo, she can’t help but be jealous of the attention Candy is paying to Josh.”
The insider also claimed to the outlet that Candy, 77, spends a lot of money on “lavish gifts” for Flagg, 37, and trips abroad with him.
However, a source tells Pvnew exclusively that any claims of the “Stories From Candyland” author funding the “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” star’s vacations are “absolutely ridiculous.”
“Josh is very successful and Candy travels with friends all the time, everyone pays their own way,” the insider adds.
In June, Candy and Josh visited Vienna and Paris together, which both documented on Instagram.
Earlier this month, the duo were spotted out on a shopping trip in Los Angeles, where Candy told TMZ that she would “always” be there for her daughter.
“I love my daughter and I support her in whatever she does,” the author added before noting that she would also back Tori, 50, “financially” if she needed it.
Flagg then chimed in on the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum’s breakup, saying at the time that he “really hopes” the separated couple has called it quits for good.
“Tori deserves a really good life and I think she’s a fabulous girl,” the realtor concluded.
The Daily Mail’s source said Tori also considers Flagg a “friend,” but claimed she “resents the attention he’s getting and believes he’s practically living with her mother since his split from his husband.”
“Let’s face it. Tori is needy and so is Candy. It’s just that their needs don’t often intertwine,” the alleged insider added.
A source told People Friday, however, that Tori and her mom are doing well, noting that the grandmother has, in fact, stepped up to help out with her grandchildren.
“The children love their grandma because she spoils them and gives them the best treats!” the insider told the magazine.
The mother-daughter duo has had a rocky relationship in the past, but they seemed to be getting along in recent years.
They were pictured together for the first time in five years in September 2022, and a month later, Tori actually credited Flagg for helping her and her mom finally have “a good relationship.”
Flagg, for his part, has previously defended how close he is with Candy since he’s apparently been questioned about their relationship before on social media.
“People always ask what the deal is with me and @CandySpelling,” the Bravolebrity began in a lengthy caption on Instagram in June.
“If you recall, I was extremely close to my grandmother #EdithFlagg. We traveled the world together. We were best friends.”
He then went on to explain that his grandmother was so spontaneous and that Candy reminded him of his late relative.
“While Candy’s not my grandmother’s age (and she’d murder me for even implying it), she’s become the Edith figure in my life,” Flagg noted.
“I wonder if somehow Edith didn’t send her to me. She and I now travel the world together. We shop together. And frankly, we just have tons of fun together. It’s a privilege to call her my best friend.”
Reps for Tori, Candy and Flagg did not return requests for comment on the alleged family friend’s remarks.
The allegations come just days after Tori was seen spending the night at a motel that costs $100 a night with her and McDermott’s five kids. Her ex was not present.
A source told Us Weekly earlier this week that the “90210” alum booked rooms at the inexpensive establishment because of an “ongoing mold problem” at their house.
“Tori is taking this issue very seriously and isn’t going to subject herself or her kids to that,” the insider claimed, adding that the motel-stay had “nothing to do with a separation.”
Tori then reportedly moved herself and her kids into a friend’s place later this week.
On June 17, McDermott, 56, announced on social media that he and Tori were divorcing after 17 years of marriage.
“It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own,” the Canadian actor wrote on Instagram at the time.
“We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time.”
The post was deleted within a few hours, sparking confusion about whether a divorce was actually looming, but McDermott was spotted moving his personal items into a storage unit shortly after.
The “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood” alum reportedly believes his estranged wife has used their marital problems for attention.
A source told the Daily Mail in late June, “Everyone knew about their issues, and she didn’t play it down, she played it — even going so far [as] to go outside where she knew paparazzi were waiting holding papers that were a clear indication of a divorce.”
