A video of Jennifer Aniston breaking down in tears over the “idea of losing” Matthew Perry has resurfaced online in the wake of his tragic death.
The actress was interviewed by Diane Sawyer in 2004 and was asked what her former “Friends” co-star didn’t know about himself and needed to hear.
“That he’s alright,” Aniston, 54, replied before becoming emotional.
“He struggled,” she continued, referencing Perry’s addiction battle with drugs and alcohol, “and we didn’t know. We weren’t equipped to deal with it. Nobody had ever dealt with that.”
“And the idea of ever losing him…” she poignantly added.
Perry battled with drugs and alcohol during his time on the long-running sitcom, later admitting that at one point he was downing a quart of vodka and 55 Vicodin a day.
Perry and Aniston were part of the ensemble of “Friends” along with Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox.

On Monday, the surviving cast members released a statement mourning the loss of Perry.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” they said in a statement to People.
“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.
“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
Perry, who played Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom that ran from 1994 to 2004, was found dead in a jacuzzi Saturday at his Los Angeles home from an apparent drowning. He was 54.
Last year while promoting his memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” “The Whole Nine Yards” star singled out Aniston for her support.
“She was the one that reached out the most,” he told Diane Sawyer in an October 2022 interview. “You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”
He also shared that it was Aniston who initially confronted him during the filming of “Friends” about his addiction and told him that the cast knew he was drinking.
“Imagine how scary a moment that was,” Perry confessed.
He singled out Aniston in another interview with Access Hollywood calling her “wonderful,” “terrific” and “the greatest.”
