Kelly Clarkson insists she doesn’t have “beef” with Carrie Underwood.
When a “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” viewer brought up the “American Idol” Season 4 winner while calling in to Tuesday’s episode, the inaugural champ quickly interrupted her.
“I think I know where you’re going with this,” Clarkson, 41, said. “People always pit us together, and we don’t even know each other well enough to be pitted together.
“Literally, we’ve run into each other a handful of times,” she continued. “There’s no beef between us.”
After doubling down that there is “nothing” going on with her and Underwood, the daytime talk show host let the viewer finish her question.
As the fan asked about Clarkson’s “favorite part of having [Underwood] as a guest” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the “Since U Been Gone” singer got out of her seat and walked behind the onstage bar to take a drink as the audience laughed.
“Everybody always asks me the ‘pitted against each other’ question,” she said, returning to her seat to call their 2021 Zoom interview “awesome” and share her hopes for another in-person chat.
“The thing that was cool about it is that everybody always pits us against each other. They don’t do that with dudes.”
The duo have sparked feud rumors over the years, with Clarkson previously shutting down speculation in 2019.
At the time, she accused a magazine of “lying” about their dynamic.
The performers had an amicable Twitter exchange the previous year after a social media users asked their followers to choose between “Team Kelly Clarkson” or “Team Carrie Underwood.”
Clarkson shared the poll, writing, “I think we’re both winning in life and pretty blessed! Singers, mamas, CEO’s. #AmbitiousBlondes go ahead @carrieunderwood.”
In a tweet of her own, the country singer, 40, replied, “Whatever, girl, I voted for you! But seriously, I do wish more publications would just celebrate women’s success without pitting them against each other… Just my thoughts…anyway… Love ya’! Hope you’re well!”
