Tom Sizemore’s ‘American Trash’ Acquired by Deep C Digital

Deep C Digital has secured North American rights to “American Trash,” featuring one of the late Tom Sizemore‘s final performances. The “Saving Private Ryan” actor died in 2023, with some 18 films in various stages of post-production.

“American Trash” marks the the directorial debut of Robert LaSardo, known for roles in “Nip/Tuck” and “The Mule,” who stars in and directs from his own screenplay. The cast also includes Costas Mandylor (“Picket Fences,” “Saw” franchise), Lorelei linklater (“Boyhood,” “Bomb City”) and Gigi Gustin (“Night of the Missing”).

The film follows Milles (LaSardo), a war veteran with PTSD who finds companionship with Melissa (linklater), an environmentalist. Their relationship takes a turn when a tragic event occurs, prompting Detective Anderson (Mandylor) to investigate. LaSardo said, “I aimed to create a film that captures my deep affection for Los Angeles, a city I’ve grown to love over the years. once a beacon of sunshine and dreams, I felt it was deteriorating into something harsh and perilous. I wanted to tell a story that highlights this change and brings attention to the realities beyond Hollywood.”

Josh Webber, who produced the film with LaSardo, added: “I’m incredibly proud of the film Robert has crafted for his directorial debut. He met every challenge with great wisdom, and I’m excited for the world to experience it through his lens.”

The deal was negotiated by John Kim, CEO of Deep C Digital and Webber Films, on behalf of production.

The film is set for release on cable and digital platforms Sept. 10.
