AMAZON ADDS ANIME IN INDIA
Prime Video has launched its first dedicatedanimechannel in India,AnimeTimes on Prime Video Channels.Focused on Japanese animation,AnimeTimes has been available on Prime Video Channels in Japan. It is being offered in India as an add-on annual fee of INR 899 ($10.8).
Titles at launch include “Spy x Family,” “Hunter x Hunter,” “Fairy Tale Movie Houou No Miko,” “Tokyo Revengers,” “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead,” “Mob Psycho 100,” “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime,” “Goblin Slayer” and “Zombieland Saga.”
“Over the past few years,animecontent has gained significant fandom in India,” said Vivek Srivastava, head – Prime Video Channels, Prime Video, India.
WEBTOON APPOINTMENTS
Webtoon Entertainment, part of Korean tech giant Naver’s Wattpad Webtoon Studios operations, has appointed David J. Lee as its new chief financial officer and COO, and promoted Kim Yongsoo to chief strategic officer. Both roles report to CEO and founder Kim Junkoo.
The two “strategic appointments” come at a time when user–generated content is being consumed at record pace, and the global webcomics market is projected to exceed $50 billion by 2030, according to Researchandmarkets group.
Lee will be expected unify and oversee Webtoon’s, Wattpad’s and Wattpad Webtoon Studios’ global corporate, financial and operations teams. With 25 years of public and private company experience he was previously COO & CFO of Impossible Foods. Before that he held roles at Zynga, Del Momnte Foods, ad agency Leo Burnett and McKinsey & Company.
As CSO, Kim will lead global strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments and partnerships as the company continues to expand its IP and creator ecosystem around the world.

SCREEN MUSIC AWARDS
The Australian Guild of Screen Composers has announced the winners of the Johnny Dennis Music Awards, held every two years. The awards aim to provide the winning composers with the financial and creative freedom to receive appropriate recognition for their work. There are four cash awards of A$5,000 ($3,500) each.
The winners of the 2023 Johnny Dennis Music Awards are Ailsa Mitchell, Sid Acharya, Jessica Wells and Thomas Balshaw.
Mitchellis a singer and composer who creates music from that draws on influence from Celtic and contemporary folk sounds, the diverse music scene around her and the natural world. Her debut EP, “Orange and Blue” was released in April.
Acharyais an Australian composer who is known for his studio albums and music for film. His style is most recognizable by use of electronic moving elements with deep and melancholic orchestral textures, His most recent film composition is “Beat,” releasing on Stan, Amazon Prime and Apple TV, and “The Promise,” which screened across 12 cinemas around Australia and is expected to release early 2024.
Wells has a glittering music academic career with multiple degrees in composition and teaching at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She was awarded the Film Critic’s Circle Award for “Best Display of Technical Excellence” for her work on eight short films.
Balshawis a composer, orchestrator, and pianist who works closely with the Griffith University Film School, and recently scored the Griffith’s ‘Humans of the Outback’ documentary.
