Elvis Presley’s stepbrother, David Stanley, is apologizing for comments he made regarding the late singer in a documentary.
“To all the Elvis Fans and associates that follow me here in Facebook and beyond. I am sorry for the derogatory comments I made in a documentary about Elvis that was filmed last year,” he wrote via Instagram Tuesday, referencing Amazon Prime’s “Elvis’ Women” documentary.
“There is no excuse for my comments and I can fully understand why you would be angered. I love and will always love Elvis and being part of his family. He is more than worthy of the love you have for him. He loved you. I love you and all I can ask of you is for you to forgive me for my irresponsible actions.”
In “Elvis’ Women” (which is currently unavailable to watch in the US), Stanley alleged that the “Love Me Tender” singer died by suicide.
“He premeditated taking the medications that killed him. Love, hurt, pain, exposure — he just couldn’t take it anymore,” the 67-year-old claimed, per Irish Mirror.
Stanley also claimed that Presley “couldn’t carry on” amid fears that his alleged relationships with teen girls would be laid bare in a book.
He claimed the singer’s “taste for young girls, aged 15, or 16” sickened him and called it a “miracle” that Presley wasn’t “busted.”
“He got away with things most people didn’t, because of his money, fortune, fame and power, charisma and magnetism,” Stanley alleged. “Elvis could talk the socks off you.”
The new comments come just days after Stanley angrily denied via Facebook that he ever made such comments about Presley.
“This is pure bulls–t!!! I never said that and anyone who believes I would say such a horrible thing is a fool,” he wrote in a since-deleted post.
“The media world can be a very dirty place. It will make up all kinds of trash just to sell it product.”
Stanley continued his self-righteous tirade, writing, “My family has been dealing with trash media from the time we moved into Graceland in 1960. But this recent headline has gone way too far. I don’t know how to stop their bulls–t but I will be speaking to [my] attorney this week hope this s–t challenged.”
Stanley – along with brothers Ricky and Billy – entered Presley’s orbit when his mother, Dee, left her husband and married the singer’s father, Vernon, in 1960. They divorced four years later.
Stanley began working for Presley as an assistant in 1972 when he was 16. Since then, he has made a living off the late icon, writing books and even creating a one-man show in Las Vegas where he promises to spill the details on the King of Rock ’n’ Roll.
Presley died of a heart attack at the age of 42 on Aug. 16, 1977. Pvnew has reached out to Presley’s estate for comment.
