Aaron Carter’s sister Bobbie Jean was arrested for retail theft and drug possession Saturday, Pvnew has /confirm/ied.
Hernando County police records, obtained by Pvnew, show that the late singer’s sibling was cuffed after she was caught shoplifting $55 worth of crafts from a Brooksfield, Fla., Hobby Lobby.
The store’s loss prevention team called police, who then escorted Bobbie Jean into an office where she allegedly grabbed her purse “in a panic” and tossed a powder-blue container under the desk.
The container held 1.3 grams of white powder and 0.8 grams of purple powder inside, with a field test confirming that the purple powder was fentanyl.
Bobbie Jean, 41, was taken into custody and allegedly threatened to “kill” herself while in transit to jail, so they placed her on suicide watch.
The arrest record shows she was booked on one count of retail theft (shoplifting) and one count of possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl).
She remains in police custody and is being held on a $500 bond.
Court records, seen by Pvnew, reveal that — so far — Bobbie Jean has been charged with petit theft. She’s submitted an application for indigency, meaning she’s requesting a court-appointed lawyer.
TMZ was first to report the news of the arrest.
Substance abuse issues have plagued the Carter family for years, with the late “Aaron’s Party” crooner dying from an accidental overdose on Nov. 5, 2022. He was 34.
The Carters also have experienced their fair share of legal woes, with the matriarch, Jane, having been arrested for battery in May. Meanwhile, another one of her sons, Backstreet Boys member Nick, has been battling a sexual assault and battery lawsuit filed by former Dream singer Melissa Schuman.
The “He Loves U Not” songstress filed a report with the Santa Monica Police Department, hoping the “I Want It That Way” singer would face criminal charges, but the District Attorney declined to prosecute because the statute of limitations had expired.
Nick has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them a “conspiracy.”
