Two Chrissy Teigen’s?
The Sports Illustrated model revealed Sunday that she had a twin sister. But not everything is as it seems.
Taking to Instagram Sunday, the “Cravings” author explained that she had taken a 23&Me DNA test which showed that she had “an identical twin.”
“As some of you know, I’ve been on a bit of a journey for the past few years — but especially the past year — of health and wellness and trying to figure out a lot about my past, my family and typical stuff one cares about,” she began before explaining that her therapist encouraged her to take the DNA test.
“I had done one a few years ago but I never did a deep dive. I had just done a heritage thing.
After paying for “some of the upgrades,” not only did she discover she was “part Neanderthal” but she was matched with “an identical twin” under the name BB.
“That has to be a joke, right?” she asked the camera before explaining that she reached out to the person (and got no response), as well as the support team for the website.
In fact, she even texted her doctor because she was “spiraling.” Chrissy, 37, then contacted both her father, Ron Teigen Sr., and sister to share her confusing discovery.
“I call my dad and I literally say, ‘Dad, hey, did you see me come out of mom’s vagina [Vilailuck Teigen] and were there two of me?'” Chrissy recalled before he confirmed that “there was not two of you.”
But after calling her sister, Tina, she remembered that she had previously taken a DNA test under a pseudonym.
“My identical twin was myself. I was matching myself,” Chrissy said.
The former model — who shares three children with husband John Legend — explained that she had taken the same DNA test using an alias for the filming of “Finding Your Roots.”
The PBS show, hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr, used tracking technology to detail celebrities’ family histories and analyze their genetics. However, Chrissy’s episode did not finish filming and never aired.
The mom of three shared that, before realizing that the results were inaccurate, she began to use her mystery twin as a means to make “excuses” for why she grew up “co-dependent” and had “addiction issues.”
However, she ended the video with a light-hearted joke. Chrissy included a snap of a hand-drawn tombstone with the inscription “Sissy Teigen. Sister, Aunt, & Friend.”
The artwork hilariously included birth and death dates that read, ” June 4, 2023, 2:04 p.m. – June 4, 2023, 3:08 p.m.”
Following her story, her comment section was bombarded with comments from fans and friends alike.
The account for 23&Me joked, “Glad that was cleared up
