Elliot Page claims in his upcoming memoir that he had a relationship with Kate Mara while she was dating Max Minghella.
“The first person I fell for after my heart was broken was Kate Mara,” the “Juno” star writes in “Pageboy,” per an excerpt obtained by People Friday.
“She had a boyfriend at the time, the lovely and talented Max Minghella.”
Page and Mara became entangled when he was filming the 2014 film “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
The “Umbrella Academy” star, 36, claims Minghella, 37, was supportive of him and the “House of Cards” alum, 40, exploring their feelings for each other and that Mara told the “Handmaid’s Tale” star at the time, “‘I never thought I could be in love with two people, and now I know I can.'”
Page explains that their romance occurred right after he had come out as gay in February 2014.
“It was a time of exploration and also heartbreak,” writes the Oscar nominee, who then came out as transgender in December 2020.
Page also shares that he discovered a lot about himself while exploring things with the “A Teacher” star.
“I think my relationship, or whatever you want to call it with Kate, very much encapsulates a certain dynamic that I consistently found myself in, which was falling for people that — I think a lot of us do this — who aren’t fully available,” he writes. “And the sort of safety in that and the highs and the lows and the serotonin bump, and then it goes away.”
He adds, “And I think that is definitely a pattern in my life.”
Page confirms he and Mara are still close, writing, “I think the love and care that we have for each other is its very own special thing. Separate from the intimacy that I write about.”
The “Hard Candy” star also revealed Mara has read his book, which comes out June 6, and will be appearing at a promotional event in Los Angeles with him this month.
Mara and Minghella split in August 2014 after four years of dating.
“Max and Kate have broken up and gotten back together a few times over the course of their relationship, but this one looks like it’s sticking,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “The relationship just ran its course.”
The actress went on to marry “Billy Elliot” star Jamie Bell in July 2017.
Meanwhile, Page wed dancer Emma Portner in January 2018, but he filed for divorce in January 2021. The Emmy nominee is seemingly single and shared that he joined a dating app in June 2022.
As for Minghella, he dated Elle Fanning for nearly four years before she confirmed in April that they broke up.
Mara’s rep did not immediately respond to Pvnew’s request for comment.
