Kelly Ripa narrowly avoided a wardrobe mishap — in the same dress she ripped last month — before stepping on stage.
“I had a small wardrobe emergency backstage! It was very exciting,” the talk show host said to her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, while fumbling with the front of her dress on Wednesday’s episode of “Live”
“I almost did not walk out here!” she exclaimed.
Consuelos — who replaced Ryan Seacrest as Ripa’s co-host in April — joked that he was “wondering how that was going to go.”
Ripa, still attempting to tie her pink dress, then playfully said she could hear her husband — who she married in 1996 — “clawing” at her dressing room door ahead of the show.
Consuelos, 52, admitted that he contemplated how he would “stretch” the opening of the show to give Ripa, also 52, some time to join him for filming.
The “Riverdale” star joked that he was getting “drunk with power” at the idea of being able to turn their talk show into “anything” with his wife’s absence.
However, the couple — who share sons Michael, 25, and Joaquin, 19, and daughter Lola, 21 — were able to continue the show without a hitch after Ripa recovered from her wardrobe mishap.
While it is unclear if her “wardrobe emergency” involved the pink dress, Ripa encountered a similar issue while filming in the same outfit last month.
On April 18, the “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories” author’s outfit ripped on her second show with her new co-host as she and Consuelos learned a dance with “Dancing With The Stars” pros Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy.
As Consuelos went to dip Ripa onto his knee, the seam of her hot pink fit popped open.
“Did the entire back of my dress rip?” she asked, jumping up. “It’s just a breakaway dress!”
Her husband then reassured her that the dress ripped “just a little bit” as he showed Ripa the string.
“Live with Kelly and Mark” airs weekdays at 9 a.m. ET on ABC.
