She looks like a new girl.
Zooey Deschanel debuted a brand new blond hair transformation – without her signature bangs – 20 years after appearing in the classic movie “Elf” in 2003 with similar locks.
On Tuesday, the “New Girl” alum, 43, shared two Instagram mirror selfies with her followers to show off her lightened up ‘do for a new project she’s filming.
In the selfies, Deschanel wears a black jacket and an electric blue tank while showing off a French manicure – it’s far from her usual retro-inspired style, as she appears to be preparing to film in a makeup trailer.
Deschanel cleverly captioned the saucy snaps “who’s she?”
Deschanel’s fans had a field day with the guessing game.
“Christina Applegate!” one commenter jokingly guessed. “Who’s that girl?” another wrote, referencing the “New Girl” theme song. “Everyday she proves why people would’ve not recognised Clark Kent was Superman,” another commenter quipped about the unrecognizable transformation.
The “500 Days of Summer” star’s celebrity pals wholeheartedly approved of the mane makeover. “Lmk if you’re having more fun,” Robin Tunney wrote as Melanie Lynskey said, “HANG ON you are 100% stunning in this look!!”
Unfortunately, the blond hair appears to be a wig, meant for filming so it’s unlikely she’ll be having more fun forever.
Deschanel – who’s dating “Property Brothers” star Jonathan Scott – has been busy filming the new Max series “What Am I Eating?,” though it’s unclear if the makeover is part of her reality show.
Perhaps she’ll make a surprise appearance as one of the Barbies in the highly anticipated summer doll movie starring Margot Robbie.
