Marysol Patton admits she wasn’t the biggest supporter of Leah McSweeney’s sobriety before filming “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” Season 3 in Thailand.
A bombshell Vanity Fair report published Monday detailed the extent of McSweeney’s alleged mistreatment by Bravo and its affiliated companies while recovering from alcoholism.
In it, the “Real Housewives of New York City” alum, 41, recalled a text message she received from the Miami “Housewife,” 56, before filming the Peacock spinoff in 2022.
“I support your sobriety obviously, and I could never do what you do because I don’t have your will power, and I marvel at what you have done!!” Patton began.
“But on that note I wish you were still drinking. That’s all.”
When contacted by the magazine, Patton /confirm/ied, “Yes, I sent the text message. There was a collective memory of the girl running around throwing tiki torches and skinny dipping, and that is who I was hoping to go on vacation with.”
Her response referenced the infamous “Hurricane Leah” episode of “RHONY” in which McSweeney got drunk at a party in Rhode Island.
The fashion designer had been sober for a decade when she signed on to join the cast of Season 12 in 2020.
However, she began drinking in the months leading up to filming and relapsed on national TV.
McSweeney reflected on that period in her life while chatting with Pvnew last year.
“I was like, ‘Wow, that was actually kind of crazy,’” she said.
“I didn’t drink for 10 years, then decide to start drinking again, which was obviously shocking to my family and my friends, and then end up on a TV show during this time,” she went on.
“And I’m trying to hide the fact that it’s such a big deal and trying to be like, ‘This is normal,’ but it’s, like, not normal. Anyone that’s sober knows [that] to not drink for 10 years, it’s huge; it’s a big deal.”
McSweeney also appeared in Season 13 of “RHONY” before Bravo rebooted the show completely. She then filmed “RHUGT.”
According to Vanity Fair, “the cast began piling on McSweeney,” who had been committed to her sobriety while filming in Thailand.
Other cast members were “repeatedly telling her on camera that she didn’t want to be” there, which resulted in her having a panic attack and eventually being hospitalized.
Elsewhere in the article, McSweeney revealed she filed an employment discrimination complaint against Bravo in March after filming wrapped. The network has denied any wrongdoing.
