Meghan Markle is “thrilled” about being on the verge of landing her first major deal since parting ways with Spotify, according to a new report.
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, is said to be inching closer toward signing on the dotted line for a multimillion-dollar contract with Amazon’s podcast production partner, Audible.
A source told Closer UK (via the Mirror) that the new venture has the power to “make or break her Hollywood dream.”
“Word of mouth is spreading that it will lead to a huge payout — even bigger than the millions Spotify splashed out,” an insider told the outlet.
“And Meghan is thrilled that she’ll be in the company of Michelle and Barack Obama [who signed a deal with Audible in 2022].”
The source suggested that the rumored deal on the table is a lucrative one.
“Meghan seems very confident at the moment, but the reality is that she’s been in a pretty desperate spot,” the source claimed.
“Losing the Spotify deal was a massive blow to her, not to mention her ego. She’s been pretty lost since, but this deal could turn everything around.”
The insider said the “Suits” star “feels ready” to work with Audible but added that it “doesn’t mean this isn’t seriously daunting.”
“She hardly sleeps thanks to the pressure of it all but knows that the pressure will only get worse if she lands the deal — it will be make or break,” the source added.
“Hollywood’s power brokers will be aware of just how [Markle and Prince Harry] fumbled on the Spotify deal, so they fear that getting dropped twice would be the end of their brand, as nobody would trust they could deliver the content. The stakes are extremely high.”
However, an Audible spokesperson told Pvnew Thursday that there is no truth to the report and they aren’t in negotiations with Markle.
Pvnew has reached out to Markle’s reps for comment.
The former actress — whose most notable, and final, role of her career was paralegal Rachel Zane on the hit show “Suits” — signed with WME CEO Ari Emanuel and his team in April.
While it’s unknown which direction Markle plans to take her career in, sources have previously said that she could be looking to make an acting comeback in the near future.
WME represents the top talent across the industry including writers, filmmakers, actors, producers, stylists, fashion designers and their agents.
The company also handles brand licensing, speaking engagements, media production and events, including New York Fashion Week.
